Inside The Calamity (Reader POV)

The Yiga

It was nearing night and Zelda and I suggested that we would go for a walk.

"You two can go. I'm gonna stay here. Can I just talk to (Name) for a second?"

Zelda nodded and he pulled me away.

"Link!"

"Listen, I need you to take this. Can I see you use it?" He handed me the Master Sword.

"But Link! Only the hero can wield it!"

"Just... just try, please."

He handed it to me and I stared at it. It was beautiful. Fi was beautiful.

"Do you know how to use a sword?"

"Well, I'm self taught, but yes."

"Ok, then what are you waiting for?"

I sighed.

I swung the sword horizontally. I then swung it some more. It was working! I was using the Master Sword! Was I?

"Wow! You're a natural! Is it heavy?"

"Is it heavy? Link, listen to yourself. Even my foam version at home is kind of heavy!"

"Yeah, I guess. Now, I wanted to ask you to make sure Zelda doesn't get hurt."

My eyes widened at his words. I nodded and tried to walk away. He pulled me back.

"Promise me you won't let her get hurt."

"I promise on my life."

And with that, Zelda and I were off. After a while of walking, Zelda started to question why I had the Master Sword in a 'I'm-going-to-make-this-as-un-obvious-as-possible-but-I'm-failing' way.

"Zelda, the reason I have the Master Sword is because Link didn't want you getting hurt."

"First, how did you know, and second, only the hero can wield that sword!"

"It was pretty obvious, Zelda. Also, for some reason, I can wield it as well."

"I... I like how you refer to me as 'Zelda' rather than 'princess'."

"I know how you don't like having to be a formal royal princess. It runs throughout your family!"

"R-really? What else do you know?"

"That you love your research more than anything else."

I heard something appear behind us. I knew exactly what it was.

"Stupid Yiga!"

I unsheathed the sword and spun around. I was face to face with a yiga footsoldier. He had a demon carver with him and he was ready to fight.

"Your fake Master Sword won't fool me!"

"What're you calling fake?"

He charged at me and I flipped backwards. As I did so, time slowed down. I'm not very flexible and I can't do backflips, so this was new.

"イガの目に注意してください!"

"No thanks."

"W-what did he say?"

"Beware the eye of the yiga."

"ダイ!"

"あなたは死にません!"

"W-what are you saying?"

"Die!"

"No you die!"

He lunged at me and I jumped aside. I unsheathed the Master Sword and in one hit, he was injured enough to disappear.

"It seems he mostly only knew Japanese."
