The Secrets Of The Forest

Chapter 2: Library Studying

Once Arya exited her water bubble, Elliott gripped her wrist and ran.
All the street lights were on, but no one was outside.
Cricket noises were coming from everywhere.

Arya tried keeping up with Elliott but it was hard.
Finally, Elliott stopped.
They looked up and went straight into the building.
Arya knew where they were. She goes here quite often.
As they walk in, she looks at all the books around her.
The librarian was sitting at her desk. She looked up but shrugged and looked back down at her computer.

Elliott sat Arya down at a table. They brought a backpack full of stuff.
They took each thing out one by one.
There were old looking books, snacks, drinks, and other weird things.
Arya picked up a can and read it.
She had a dissatisfied look on her face as she looked up at Elliott."really? Coffee?" She scolded.

Elliott grabbed it from her hands and popped the can open." Hell yeah Arya, you got that" they pointed to a bottle.
Arya grabbed it and read it as well. She gasped." Cranberry juice!?" She exclaimed softly.
Elliott smirked and nodded.

Arya opened it and took a drink.
She set it down and wiped her mouth.
"Ok, why are we here again?" She questioned.
Elliott put their hands down on the table and made eye contact.
"So I did a little digging in my attic and BOOM-" they made an over exaggerating noise." I found these books. They looked boring so I grabbed them and a couple snacks. Then, I came running to your place with my paper airplane ready" they smirked.

Arya sat back in the chair. She grabbed one of the books and started reading.
While Elliott sat there playing with some paper and other things.
They got entertained pretty easily.

Arya finally got to a page that brought her attention.
It mentioned war, elves, forests, villages, and humans.
She did a double take when it mentioned humans.
"Elliott," she said. Elliott sprung up in their chair after falling asleep. They looked around until they saw Arya." This mentions something about humans?" Arya said.

She turned the page towards them and they shook their head." No, I'm pretty sure it's pronounced hoo-mens" they said popping some chips in their mouth.
"...I don't think so. Anyway, in this picture it shows the same shaped ears on these humans that we saw earlier" she said.

Elliott looked closely at the picture." You're right, nice eye" they said."So.. what do we do now that we know their names?"
Arya sighed." We should research about them. Obviously they're dangerous. Elves, war, and humans don't sound friendly next to each other" Arya says.

She continued to read while Elliott dozed off again.
She read about how humans wanted elves powers, so they tried to kill them and see if they could get the powers.
And the forest. Where the land was magical. The humans wanted that land.
All their tactics never worked unfortunately for them, and fortunately for the elves.
That's what started the human and elves war.
Finally, the humans and elves agreed on the elves keeping the enchanted forest, the humans keeping anything except the forests.

Arya nudged Elliott again." Humans are dangerous" she said.
Elliott scoffed." Oh really? How?" They asked.
Arya explained everything she remembered.
Elliott scoffed again." I mean, they're at peace now, right?" They asked.
" I mean, they only agreed on one thing. The forest belongs to the elves. But I'm pretty sure they still have their differences and will still likely fight us if they found us again"

Elliott got up and stretched.
"Well, we'll find out ourselves tomorrow" they said.
"What do you mean?" Arya asked.
Elliott smirked." We are going to meet those hoo-mens again and ask them about this. We literally are the same size as them. The only thing different is that our ears are pointy!" They said.
Arya chuckled." Nice joke, but we aren't going back pass the barrier"

Elliott frowned." But Arya! Look at what we found out, no adult has told us about hoo-mens in our life. This should be a nice adventure to find out more, and educate ourselves. And we can even tell the public about it in the future, when we find out more about them of course"

Arya crossed her arms.
She wanted to say no. But she also wanted to find out more about humans as well.
"The way you put your words are convincing me to say yes...but, Elliott. Do you really think this is safe?" She made eye contact with them.

They nodded frequently." I wouldn't have said all of this if i thought it wasn't. I would NEVER put you in danger like that" they say.
"Well, you did tell me to chase you where it is prohibited to cross. So maybe you would put me in danger like that" Arya said.

Elliott giggled a bit." Yea sorry about that.. but if I didn't do that we wouldn't be having this conversation right now" they said.

Arya thought for a moment.
"Ok.. fine. We can go over there again. But only this one time, ok?" She held out her pinky for a pinky promise.
Elliotts eyes lit up as Arya said yes.
They connected their pinky to Arya's and locked it.
They stared at each other, then Elliott gave Arya a hug.
"Uh, wh-"
"Shut up, this is a good moment. I don't care if you don't like hugs" Elliott smiled.

Finally they let go and went to clean up their mess.
"Well, I'll be at your house at five in the morning" Elliott announced.
Arya shook her head." No, Ten. I'll be up by then hopefully..."
Elliott frowned." Okeyyy. Well I'll see you in the morning Arya" they said waving bye as they left.
Arya walked out right after.

She walked back to her house. The street lights were off by then. And she's enjoying the nature noises surrounding her. A quiet time with just her.

She finally arrived at her house and makes a staircase with water up to her window.
She went in and fell asleep right as she hit her bed.
