Chapter 9: Trees Can Break Your Fall (And A Rib)

He looked back at her with with the same face.
"WHAT?" His eyes go wide and he gives her a questionable look.

She pointed to his head." That's.. a lot of blood" her lips quiver. Sweat dripped down the sides of her face.

He felt the blood trickling down his neck. 'Was she afraid of blood?' Kais asked himself. He wiped some off his forehead and smiled." I've seen worse"

Rainey and Elliott walk back over.
"May I just say, that was BAD ASS" Rainey shouted. Elliott snickered. They told Rainey to say that. People who were surrounding them heard and gasped.

Arya cringed." Rainey you cannot say those words"

Rainey pouted." Ugh fine.."

Elliott smiled." I have to agree with Rainey, that was really cool"

Kais stood up straight, and his head started to hurt." Well thank you" he looked at elliotts shirt that was longer at the end." But can you rip some of your shirt off for me?" He asks them.

Elliott looked down and frowned." I just got this shirt... but sure" they ripped some of it off, leaving the shirt to a normal length.
They handed him the ripped fabric and out of his belt, he took out some cotton pads and a sticky tape-like object.

He wrapped the cotton pads in the fabric as the others watched. Then he took out a towel to wipe off the excess blood on his forehead and neck to stop the bleeding.
He placed the cotton part on his bleeding head. After that, he grabbed the tape and placed it on his head to keep the fabric down.

"TADAAA" he showed his friends what he had done.
He made a head bandage.

"Where did you learn to do that?" Elliott asked in awe. They examined every single part of what he did.
He shrugged." When my mom use to work night shifts at the hospital, she had to take me since there was no one at home to watch me. I picked up on a few things"

Rainey clapped." Okay that's cool. But let's go to the watch tower now" she beamed.
Kais started walking ahead." Of course-" he got stopped by an officer.

"Kais Hagan" the officer said sternly. Kais froze in his tracks and took a step back. The officer was trying to hold in his smile, but failed pretty fast. He walked forward and gave him a hug.
"LONG TIME NO SEE SOBRINO" the officer said. (For anyone who doesn't know Spanish, that means Nephew 👺)

Kais wrapped his arms around the guy and held him tightly." I missed you uncle Tyson" he said.
They both pulled away and his uncle wiped a tear." I knew one day you'd be taller than me..."
Kais rolled his eyes playfully.
"Tyson, everyone is taller than you" kais laughed.

"Very funny..." his uncle looked over to the rest of them awkwardly standing and watching.
"And some friends? Wow." His uncle started to laugh." In elementary, Kais had no friends. Once. He asked a girl out and she-" kais hit his uncles arm.

"YOU SAID YOU WOULDN'T SPEAK OF THAT AGAIN" he scolded him.

His uncle laughed half heartedly." Sorry about that. My memory is hazy..." he looked back over at his friends. "anyway, I came to check if you were okay, but seeing the head bandage it seems like you got the situation taken care of."

Kais nodded." Of course, learned from my mom" he gave a thumbs up.
His uncle stared at him." Speaking of your mom. Im going to call her next time something similar like that happens.." his uncle continued. Kais looked down worriedly. His uncle patted his back and smirked.
" Just kidding! I didn't see a thing today okay, Kais?"

Kais looked back up and a bright smile appeared on his face." Okay Tyson! Thanks man"
His uncle winked and started walking of.
"I'll see you next time Kais. Don't get yourself into trouble" he walked off into, out of all the bakeries and shops, a donut place. The stereotype that cops liked donuts was a bit serious with the elves.
