Mikey's POV
I always knew that my family's rich. I was very thankful that they took me in not because of their money but because they were all good people.
Both my mothers loved me so much while my grandfather spoiled to the max. But I never realized that they were this rich. Both Ma and grandpa never spoke about work at home and Ma only took me once.
"Mr. CEO!" Chloe yelled and ran towards grandpa. "Mr. CEO!"
The two men in suit instantly raised their guard but grandpa stopped them. "It's okay." Both of then lowered their guard but remained vigilant. "Hey young lady, what can I do for you?"
"I just wanted to say that I'm going to study hard and work here under you like my dad." She then pointed at her dad.
"Sorry Mr. Kramer, my daughter got a little excited. The kids are here for career day. I'm just showing then around."
"No worries. It's such a delight to see such enthusiastic kid." He said. "Maybe one day you can take your father's place. However, kids... it's better if you aim higher... Aim to surpass me."
"Yes sir." Chloe exclaimed.
"I better go as I'm late for my meeting."
He was about to leave but Chloe won't shut her mouth. "Heard that Mikey? One day I'll build my own company."
"Yeah yeah." I said, lowering my voice.
I looked at grandpa and he just nodded at me like I was some kind of stranger and I felt like my heart's been crushed. Was he mad at me? Have I done something wrong? Anyways, whatever it was, I'm sure there's a good explanation.
"Hey kids... look at the woman. She's just closed a partnership with this company. She owns the largest shipping line in the world. Their planes and ships could reach any part of the world." Chloe's dad pointed at the woman that was en route to the elevator.
"Wow dad! I'm going to be just like her! Build and run my own company." Chloe exclaimed with glee. Now I truly understand the purpose of career day. It gives us motivation to set our goals and reach for our dreams.
Our little trip was finally over and we're all back in the bus heading towards the school. We have time left so we can start to do our reports.
"Everything okay Mikey?" Erica who was sitting with me at the bus asked.
"Yeah..." My tone was not convincing at all. However, I can't really tell her that my grandpa just ignored me.
"Just so you know... I'm here if you need to talk."
"Thanks."
We arrived back at school to start our report but no words came out from my mind. My paper's still blank until the bell rang. It's fortunate that we still have the weekend to finish our papers.
"You ready to go Mikey?" Erica asked. Our homes were both on the way so we took the same school bus everyday.
"Yeah. Sure. Let's go before the bus leaves us."
Dylan' POV
When Mikey arrived home, I sensed that there's something was wrong. "Hey cub, is there something you want to tell me?" I asked as I stood outside his room. "You know you can tell me everything."
"I saw grandpa today." He sighed. "He saw me too but he ignored me like I don't exist."
I told dad about the career visit. I never realized that they'll run into each other. "Mikey... did I ever explained to you why we don't use your grandpa's surname?"
