I ran through the woods as fast as I could. I dodged branches as I breathed heavily. I jumped over rocks and logs.
"Monster."
I broke through the field of trees and onto the trail of the lake. I ran towards my cabin.

"I will find you."
I slowed down into a jog as I got closer to my porch.
"You deserve to be punished."
I walked up the steps and towards the door. I walked inside and walked over to my bathroom. I turned on the bathroom light as I walked in and grabbed a towel. I whipped the sweat from my face, neck, and chest. I set the towel down on the counter and leaned against the sink. I looked at myself in the mirror. My baby hairs stuck out of my ponytail. My brown eyes were tired from not sleeping. I sighed and turned off the light as I left the bathroom. I walked into the kitchen and grabbed a water bottle from the fridge. I was about to take a drink when I felt someone in the room. I sighed and put the cap back on.
"I'm guessing you aren't here for a friendly chat." I turned around to see Nick Fury standing there, holding a black tablet.
"Not this time." He said.
"What's the mission?" I asked as I placed the water bottle down on the counter.
He hands me the tablet. I opened the cover and it turned on.
'The Avengers Initiative'
"Avengers?" I asked. He hummed in response. I looked through the files of all the Avengers that Fury is recruiting. "Who took the Tesseract?" I looked at Dr. Banners file.
"His name is Loki." He said. "From space." I looked up from the file and looked at him.
"Space? You can't be serious." I looked back at the file and turned to Captain America's file. I first saw a picture of him before the super soldier serum. He was very handsome. Before and after.
"Perez, you need to get back out in the world." He said. I looked at him.
"I need to save the world from this guy, for what? To have him find me? So I can go back into hiding?" I clenched my jaw.
"Perez-"
"No, I'm done. I'm done hiding, Nick." I closed the tablet. "I'm in."
"Good. I'll send you the location of where to be. Tomorrow. 10am." He said and with that he left.
