"Anger is all fun and games until you're angry at the guy who ghosted you for six years, but deep down you secretly forgive him and have a massive weak spot for him. I know it's an oddly specific example, but I promise it doesn't mean anything."
-초성민 (Cho Seong-Min)"Feeling guilt is never fun and games. Of course I wouldn't like to get ghosted for six years, even though they had a perfectly good reason to leave. Even though they tried to contact you later. I know it's an oddly specific example, but I promise it doesn't mean anything."
-박진성 (Park Jin-Seong)"And all I gave you is gone, tumbled like it was stone. Thought we built a dynasty that heaven couldn't shake, thought we built a dynasty like nothing ever made, thought we built a dynasty forever couldn't break up."
-MIIA, "Dynasty"Guilt and anger. It gets worse when you know that you shouldn't feel that way. When you know it wasn't your fault. When you know that you could give a perfectly level-headed explanation. When you know that it isn't their fault. When you know that you're being unreasonable. That's when emotions get emotional.
Wednesday, April 27th, 2022. 6:45 AM. Jin-Seong's alarm screeches at him at a volume his mother would be proud of. He shoots out of bed in absolute fear and heads straight for the bathroom. As he splashes his face with water, he pauses to look in the mirror. "Is this really the face of someone who broke someone? And is it really all his fault?" All the questions from last night were flooding back in, like a river that had been undammed. "Well crap, I don't need to have another existential crisis at 7:00 in the morning."
Just another workday. Just another workday. No amount of convincing would be able to persuade Seong-Min to believe that it was indeed "just another workday." As water dripped off her face and splatted in the sink, she stared into her own eyes in the mirror. "My name is Cho Seong-Min. I am an artist and animator. I have, like, a billion IQ points. I am single. I always was. I always will be. So fuck off." Perfect presidential speech, performed to none other than the mirror lady herself.
Seong-Min arrives at Riot Korea HQ at 7:30 flat, and well, lo and behold; it's none other than Jin-Seong himself. Guess he decided to show up. Great. I love confrontation so much. So. Much.
"Hey." Jin-Seong awkwardly greets her.
"You came." Seong-Min slightly rolled her eyes.
"I did."
"Well, get on with it."
"Sorry."
"You said the same thing yesterday. Got anything new?"
"Not really."
"Great. Mind if I rant a bit?"
"Not at all."
"My name is Cho Seong-Min. I'm an artist and animator. I have, like, a billion IQ points." At this, Jin-Seong let out a small chuckle. "I am single. I always was. I always will be. And that's what I told myself this morning before I saw you."
"And has anything about that changed? Your name, maybe?"
"I'd love to say that all of it is true but, Park Jin-Seong, you are my one and only weak spot. And I can't ever forgive myself for secretly admitting that it was never your fault."
"Is that a compliment?"
"Interpret that however the hell you want."
