TW: Suicidal thoughts

"I used to think I took the cake for craziest girl in Korea, but when Nari showed up, she snatched my crown. It's such a shame, really."
-초성민 (Cho Seong-Min)

"I have trouble deciding who is more insane. Nari, who tried to kill my girlfriend, or my girlfriend, who told her to do it."
-박진성 (Park Jin-Seong)

"You could go to paradise, see the wonders fill the highs. Touch the stars and touch the sky, but still, they won't compare to me"
-Jaira Burns, "Goddess"

Monday, May 16th, 2022 (continued). Jeong Areum contemplated it again. Over and over. Day after day, she thought of the same thing. But she could never truly bring herself to commit to it. There was still more to live for. Maybe she could go to medical school. After all of this was over, and Nari finally gave up after realizing she wasted years of her life, and Areum's life, on absolutely nothing.

It seemed now that Nari would never give up. She's dedicated too much. She's put all of her resources into it, and yet he still barely knows she exists. Areum doesn't feel bad for her. If she doesn't give up, Areum will make her give up, before giving herself up.

At least Ji-Hun was happy with his career. Looks like Nari's bullshit had one good thing come from it. Areum gets daily texts from her brother, telling her not to end it all. Telling her that there's still hope. Pft, all lies. Soon it'll be over. Soon I will be over.

As they drove the same-old road to work that Monday morning, she imagined all of the pleasant ways she would do it. Hanging? Stabbing? Or maybe, she would find a nice tall building to take a selfie on first. Areum smiled like an idiot. These images were like the way Nari was obsessed with that boy. They're toxic. Obsessive. Deadly. Lovable as ever.

Nari looked angry as they walked into the building. But she also looked excited. As if she were anticipating something. As soon as she saw Seong-Min, she ran at her. Seong-Min seemed to just stand still. Nari grabbed her neck and slammed her against the wall. Areum watched on in horror, but she was frozen still. She wanted to see Seong-Min die. She wanted to see anyone die, really.

"You were the midlaner on Jin-Seong's high school team, weren't you?"

Seong-Min only smiled. "Correct."

"You bitch!" Nari tightened her grip on Seong-Min's neck.

Seeing people rushing over to get Nari off of her, Seong-Min grabbed onto Nari's forearms and forcefully pushed her off as the others grabbed her from behind.

"If you really want to kill me," Seong-Min reached into her bag and pulled out a pair of scissors, "use these." She extended them out to Nari, who managed to break free from their grasp. Nari only stared at the scissors, her eyes steaming with fury. She turned and left, and Seong-Min put the scissors back. "Thought so."

Meanwhile, Areum sighed in disappointment. Things were just getting exciting. She could have had a preview of the stabbing death, but of course Nari, being the coward she was, was too scared.

"Hey, Areum!"

"Oh, hi Seong-Min eonnie." Areum blinked back to reality and she saw Seong-Min standing in front of her with red finger marks on her neck and a cheery expression on her face. "Why are you so happy about being strangled?"

"Oh," Seong-Min chuckled, "your sister is really funny. It's too bad she doesn't get paid for it. I'm sure she could make a lot from being a professional clown."

At that, Areum burst out in hysterical high-pitched laughter. A clown. That's all her sister was. Ever since she met that boy. She began to shed tears, both from laughing and from thinking about how her clown sister ruined her life.
