Author's Note: This is the backstory I wrote for Luciana. It's not really needed for the story but I thought I would include it since it is part of her character and does play a role for her. Think of it as a bonus chapter. The next will be the first session.

A simple love story that began as a mere friendship between a captain of the Royal Guard, Nirroh, and a head maid of the Royal Castle, Celdas. Their friendship grew to innocent flirting, then turned romantic before finally blossoming into marriage. Their life only grew more joyous as Celdas became pregnant. After 9 months, they were gifted with a beautiful baby daughter. Her hair was golden blonde with bright, sapphire blue eyes. They named her Luciana.

She was a sweet child and very bright having started crawling, walking, and talking very early in her age. They were both very proud parents and continued their work for the royal family they swore to serve while also raising their beloved little girl.

Nearly 2 years later, Celdas was found to have another child on the way. The happy family of 3 would now be a family of 4. However, the second pregnancy didn't go as smoothly as the first and their second baby was born 7 weeks early.

Though the baby girl had been born weak, she fought for her life. Their second daughter, Silea, made it but would have a tough few years of life. She shared her family's fair blonde hair and blue eyes. Both Nirroh and Celdas were much more protective with Silea, fearing that her fragile body from being born prematurely would fail if they weren't careful.

Luciana and Silea grew up close thanks to their close age and their busy parents. Luciana was often charged with the care of her sister, especially since she was advanced for her age. She did struggle sometimes dealing with the very strict, protective, nature her parents expected upon her sister.

Silea was the baby and, more often than not, got her way. It was a bit hard to not feel like she was the favorite at times. She loved her sister dearly but there was a bit of a rift between them as well with how their parents treated them.

As Luciana got older, she would hear of the worry people had that the first born child of the king and queen was a prince and not a princess. They understood the wait after the first child but worried that they may not get a princess for the reborn goddess's powers in time. She didn't really understand why any of it mattered but she did feel a little bad that no one was happy the prince wasn't a princess.

She tried not to let it get to her and at the age of 6 became more and more infatuated with her father's work. The life of a soldier was filled with adventure and the thrill of helping others. It was something she increasingly wished to do but her father was against it. There was no reason for a girl to learn how to fight. They would only get hurt. This wasn't enough to deter Luciana, though, and she continued to push her father on it. But his thoughts remained strong.

She grew to the age of 8, heart still full of the yearn to hold a blade. One night, she had been sent to get some carrots and potatoes for dinner while her parents worked late, also charged with watching Silea on her errand. The trip wasn't much different than the usual errands she was sent on.

That was... till they headed home. Luciana noticed they were being followed by a face she had never seen before. She quickly pulled her sister faster to try and lose the strange male but he was persistent in his chase. Eventually he managed to corner the sisters but Luciana wasn't about to give up. She picked up a stick from the ground and fought back.

The man was definitely stronger but the girl had managed to hold her own enough to cause him some harm and make enough noise that some of her father's men noticed and came to their rescue. Luciana received some cuts and bruises but the two sisters were fairly unharmed. It was then Nirroh decided he was wrong. While he still didn't believe a girl should serve as a guard, it was clear his daughters needed to know how to defend themselves against harm.

Luciana was more than ecstatic to finally be able to hold a sword. She took to training almost instinctively. In only a few short years, she was able to stand up to grown adults with decades of more training. There were those that mocked her for her gender but she didn't let them get to her. She was finally doing what she wanted to be and if she could prove she could handle herself against them then her father would have to acknowledge she had what it took to be a soldier for the Royal family.

Word spread of the Queen's new pregnancy and a baby girl was soon graced into the kingdom. Everyone was ecstatic that the newest vessel for Hylia had come.  Though there were several who felt a little bad for the first born Prince getting brushed off for not being able to be the Goddess Hylia reborn. After all, only a princess could hold the powers of the Goddess and hold her spirit. Just as her chosen hero was always a strong and courageous young man.

Luciana reached the age of 13. Her skills had grown greatly over the last 5 years. However, most still didn't see her much more than a girl who wouldn't be much more than a simple soldier thanks to some dumb luck. Still she ignored them. They would see for themselves one day.

She traveled with her father to the Goron mountains. Her father needed to speak with the Tribe Leader on behalf of the Queen but that was all she was told on the matter. Instead, Luciana was left to explore the village and mountains as her father worked. Something she didn't mind as she loved seeing new lands.

It was during such a day that the young fighter came across a very young Goron that had wandered a bit too far from the safety of home. Concerned for his safety, she followed him till they were well outside the borders of the village. She was about to call out and ask him to return when a large group of Bokoblin jumped out from their nearby camp.

The Goron child was frightened and curled up into a ball to try and defend himself. Luciana had to help him. She took her sword in hand and did her best to fight back against the group but it wasn't so easy to fight outnumbered. Tired and with small injuries, she looked to the shaking form of the Goron child, still too scared to run. She couldn't give up. She wouldn't give up! A literal fire sparked inside of her.

Luciana found a new strength awakened within herself and summoned a flurry of flames. With this new found power, she was able to defeat the group of monsters. The child was very grateful and promised he would never disobey the rules again, leave both to return to the safety of the village. However, she continued to try and push this new power to better help protect the people who needed it as the soldier she strove to be.

The rumors of the Princess began to spread. It seemed she was struggling with finding the Goddess' powers and the threat of Calamity Ganon was drawing closer and closer to the fated day. A tale that had been told to her ever since she was young. But Luciana was sure she would find it and stop the threat just like the princesses before her. The reborn goddess and chosen hero always stopped the evil that was Ganon. She would stand by her and help protect Hyrule from the cruel fate that drew closer and closer. That was a promise she made even though she knew the Princess would never know that.

She's now 19 and has worked very hard to prove her skills as a fighter, time and time again. Many have learned to accept her strength and courage though there are still plenty that feel she has no place on the front lines. Even her own father has had to come to terms with how well she can hold her own with a blade.

Her goal is to continue to strive forwards and prove herself as well as her own promise to help stop the evil said to be coming with the Princess and Chosen hero. Her heart still hurts for the Prince and his discarded role in the royal family but she hopes that he will find his place as she believes she has found hers.
