Queen Zelda finishes her story. "It's around this moment the story gets a bit on the hazier side. Most people who know this tale, and most books who have it recorded, have all the information up to about this point pretty much the same."
She shifts herself slightly before continuing. "However, the ending differs depending where you hear it or read it from. Some people say Sapientiae betrayed her friends. She let the strange being, who has been labeled 'The bringer of Demise' or just 'Demise', have the Triforce. A lot of people who believe this to be the true ending tend to say that 'Sapientiae' is where we get the word 'Serpent' from and that 'Demise' wished to be reborn at random intervals. Which explains Ganon."
I bite my lip as I continue to listen to the Queen's story. That ending sounds so sad.
"Other people believe that Imperias and Animos simply feigned their defeat and caught 'Demise' off guard. Killing him, but in their reckless attack they shattered the Triforce in a million pieces. People that recall this ending cite the fact that, well, the world still has problems."
This ending sounds true as well.
"The story I grew up with says that Sapientiae panicked. She shattered the Triforce herself, so that even though she and her friends could not use it, neither could 'Demise'. People who believe this ending tend to mention Sapientiae was known to be wise, not brave or strong. Either she knew she wasn't strong enough to fight Demise alone, or she was afraid of Demise, causing her panic."
Another ending that makes sense to me.
"And of course there are those who say that she used her wishes to defeat 'Demise', heal her friends and rid the world of problems. The people who believe this cite... Well, they say it's just a story. A myth. And that it must have a happy ending, right?"
I sit in thought a bit at all the different endings. It isn't a story Dad has told me at all but she's right. I mean, we know Ganon and the Master Sword are true. So it makes sense this one has some truth to it as well. But what that is... I don't know for myself. I don't even know which I want to be true.
"But what ending is true?" Lilura asks.
"Well, no one really knows. That's why there are so many that people believe and for different reasons." Queen Zelda answers. "But there must be some truth to it as we do know Ganon comes back. We've seen it happen."
I nod as I continue to soak it all in. "Thank you for telling us, your majesty. So then Lilura has a piece of the Triforce of power... so we should try to find the rest of it?"
"I suppose it might not hurt to try." She agrees. "Is there anything else I can help you with?"
I shake my head. We've taken up a lot of her time already. I'd hate to take even more of her time when she's got her hands full for the coming festival.
Now that we know about the story, we should probably go check on Jovani. Best get the Gohma fed so it isn't an issue. "We should probably go check on your.... thing, Lilura." I try to hint at as to not cause Zelda anymore concern if I can help it.
"He's a he. And his name is Lorcan." Lilura corrects me.
"Really? Huh... well, we still should go and see him then." The Queen gives us an odd look. "Lilura has a pet..." I explain without lying.
Zerah steps in, "Yes, we should go. I wouldn't want to keep you with everything you need to do in preparation, Mother. I will speak with you again at another time."
