Laughter and chatter occupied them for hours after Nick's arrival. It must have been around 3am when they both finally fell silent again. It was a comfortable silence, a silence you could easily get lost in. The silence was only broken by the sound of Nick's stomach softly growling.

"Oh," Karl whispered as he turned his head to look at him, "Are you hungry?"

"Hm, just a bit," Nick chuckled softly as he ran a hand through his own hair. Karl yawned as he sat up again, "It's too late to order food but I'm sure we can make something."

"If you're too tired then don't stress about it though, I can always eat in the morning," Nick shrugged, deciding to sit up as well. Karl shook his head, smiled at him and stood up. The world blurred in front of his eyes but a hand against the wall for balance made it all steady again. "Will you come to the kitchen with me?" He asked before Nick even had a chance to ask if he was okay.

The kitchen wasn't too big, but everything was neatly placed where it should be. "Damn Karl, when was the last time you actually bought food?" Nick asked as he opened the fridge.

Karl loved grocery shopping, he would spend hours walking down random isles, checking nutrition labels, looking for new comfort foods and comparing his grocery basket to those who walked past him. Yet when it came to actually having food in the house - Karl's fridge was stacked with monster ultras and diet sodas while rice cakes occupied the space in the cupboards as well as random jars of peanut butter.

"Hm?" Karl said as he took out an opened loaf of bread from the bread bin. "Oh um yeah, I usually go on once a week but I just haven't had a chance yet" he said placing the bread on the kitchen counter.

"There's basically dust in the cupboards Karl..." Nick said softly as he moved his finger over the practically empty shelves, "When was the last time you ate something?"

Karl made an effort to yawn over Nick's question. If he hadn't heard it, he wouldn't need to answer it. He knew the last time he ate, the single grape he had eaten that morning was still haunting him. He told himself he was fasting until Nick came just to be extra dainty and pretty for him yet he went and messed it all up because of that stupid grape.

He didn't want to answer the question, so he did the first thing he could think of and spoke before he could ask again, "I have some peanut butter if you want that on a sandwich?"

"Sure," Nick nodded, "Will you have one as well?" he asked wanting to make sure that the other was actually getting some food. "I don't like eating this late," Karl shrugged as he started to make the sandwich for the other.

Nick nodded with a soft sigh as he leant against the counter. "I'm worried about you Karl..."
