Chapter Five

The next five days were.... something to say the least. Turns out, Evelyn doesn't like sleeping through the night and loves to scream when she thinks she's unnoticed, but obviously, Ash is trying her best. Ash has been trying to sort through her mama's stuff, so she can figure out what she wants and won't sell. Evelyn had her three to five-day check-up as well, which meant dragging her out of the house back to the doctor's office.

She's trying to be active on social media so people wouldn't get too worried about her. She also asked Clay to explain what was happening to her friends. He'd been an incredibly supportive friend during this time. He'd talk with her every night as she attempted to fall asleep.

The day before her mama's funeral and a couple of hours after Evelyn's 3-5 day check-up, Ash started packing up all the stuff she would be taking with her back to Florida, more specifically the stuff that the truck and movers would be taking back. It was supposed to take two days for the truck to drive down, but for her, it's probably going to take a lot longer, due to the baby. Ash at this point has pretty much figured out what she's selling and what she's keeping. She's keeping photo albums, family jewelry, and things of similar sentimental value.

Margaret offered to help with selling everything, which was very kind of her, as Ash had to get back to Florida to continue working.

She tweeted out that she'd be back to streaming in a couple of days once she got everything sorted. She got lots of support and questions about where she'd been, but she ignored everything and finished packing the last of the things into the car. She keeps things like formula, a couple of outfits, and Evelyn's diaper bag out of the truck, everything like her crib, cradle, and everything else that was in her room was taken by the truck the day before.

After the service and mama's burial, she and Evelyn got in the car, luckily for Ash, she'd fed Evelyn before they started their trip. About two hours later, Evelyn started screaming, so Ash pulled off at the nearest exit and mixed her formula with a water bottle before shaking it and feeding it to Evelyn. As she sat in the passenger seat of her car, feeding Evelyn, Roadtrip by Dream came on her Spotify playlist. She carefully moved her phone up to the radio screen which showed what was playing and took a picture of it. After she finished feeding, burping, and checking her diaper, Ash secures her back into her car seat before hopping back in the front seat. She pulls up the picture and types out that one song by that one Minecraft Youtuber came on... kinda weird champ of you Spotify smh she smiles, looking it over, before posting it. A minute later she'd heard her notifications going off but like the good driver she was, she decided she would wait until she had to stop again before checking her phone. (drive safely)

After seven hours of traveling and having to stop every two-three hours to feed and check Evelyn's diaper. She finished driving around eleven at night. Her destination for that night was a hotel in New York. When she finished bringing in the diaper bag and putting Evelyn to bed for, hopefully, the night, she showered and changed. She plopped down on the bed and finally checked her notifications.
