The next morning Ash and Evelyn hang out in the hotel room till around eight. Ash decided to spend some time cuddling and just talking to Evelyn, as talking is important in a child's early childhood development. It was set to take five hours to get home so after Ash secured Evelyn into her seat, she buckled in upfront and checked her phone. There were a couple of calls from Clay and a couple of texts.

Ash turns on her Spotify playlist once more before putting down her phone and focusing on the road. Evelyn was surprisingly quiet, but she still had to feed her every two to three hours and tend to her needs and such.
What only felt like an hour of driving later, even though she realized she had been driving a lot longer than it felt, she started to recognize the area and she felt herself become more and more excited the closer she got.
At some point she saw a Chipotle and realized she was starving, she decided to pull over and texted clay.
Green Screen Man

i would never say no to food
you know my order?
ofc see you soon <3
Ash forgot how annoying it would be to have to unhook the car seat from the mount to bring Evelyn inside than have to carry both the food and her seat back outside to hook it into the mount, but for the love of Chipotle, it was worth it.
Thirty minutes later, she was pulling into her apartment complex's parking lot and smiled when she saw Clay's car. She enters the lobby carrying her Chipotle bag, Evelyn in her car seat, and the diaper bag. She struggles to press the button and steps inside.
The elevator ride felt like it lasted forever, when it reaches her floor, she makes her way down the hall and kicks the door as she has no hands. A moment later, Clay swings the door open and she's greeted with a smile.
"Hello," He smiles, and opens the door wider before reaching down and taking the car seat and the car seat from her hands.
"Thank god, she looks little but she's pretty heavy," she sighs, following Clay into the kitchen.
"I mean I know Tommy has called me god, but hearing it from you is new," Clay chuckles, putting the baby carrier on the counter. Ash drops the bag and playfully smacks his arm. Clay opened his arms and Ash quickly buried herself in his welcoming grasp. This feels like home she realizes as she pulls back just a touch to look up at him. He pulls her back closer and buries his face in the crook of her neck.
"I missed you," Clay mutters.
"I missed you too," Ash says, pulling back to look up at him. She couldn't look away from his beautiful green eyes, she could feel the heat rising to her face. She was about to say something when Evelyn started screaming. Ash chuckles, taking a step back. "I... I guess she's as hungry as I am."
"Would you like me to feed her so you can eat?" Clay asks, picking up Evelyn's diaper bag from off the ground. Whatever had her caught in Clay's eyes was gone with Evelyn wanting to be fed.
"That would be awesome of you," Ash says, pulling him quickly into a hug before searching through the diaper bag, looking for a clean bottle and formula. She grabs a bowl out of the cabinet and fills it up with warm water and rests the formula-filled bottle into the bowl. "Hey, Clay, would you be able to grab Eve from the carrier?" She asks, fixing up her bottle.
"Umm... yep!" Clay says, nervously. She hears him whispering little things and Ash couldn't help but smile at the sweet moment.
"If I was recording this I would put it in a wholesome Dream compilation," Ash says, taking the now warm bottle out of the warm-water-filled bowl. She grabs a rag off the counter and wipes off the outside of the bottle. She turns around and sees Clay holding Evelyn incredibly wrong. She laughs, shakes her head, and approaches Clay. She takes Evelyn and leans down, kissing her head. "Here take this burp rag and bottle and I'll set you up on the couch," Ash says, padding over to the living room.
He sits down on one edge of the couch. "Ok so hold the bottle in your right hand, your left arm will be supporting her head," She explains, placing Evelyn gently in his arms before taking the burp rag from his hand. She places it on his shoulder, rubbing it down so there weren't lots of bumps. She pauses as Clay meets her eyes once again. She quickly grabs her hand away and heads back to the kitchen to grab her food. She takes a minute to collect herself, she doesn't know what changed but she can't wait to explore it.
She brings her food back to the living room, taking a seat beside Clay, eating her food in comfortable silence. After Evelyn finished eating, Ash held Evelyn as Clay ate. They had a nice chat about upcoming plans, her trip, and things of such. When Clay finished eating, Ash realized that Evelyn was asleep and headed to her room to put Evelyn in the cradle by Ash's bed.
