a soulmate who wasn't meant to be

Our love was not perfect
But was always true
From the bottoms of my heart,
I've always loved you

When i thought of pain i didnt think of you
You were the safe haven i would go to

In your worst moments,
In those full of joy,
I stood by your side and had your back

I was your shoulder and you were mine.
So whenever it was hard we would cry.

It was us against the whole world.
And i thought nothing could break our bond.

You were the one i trusted with my whole,
And stood by your side through all,

But I looked at the rose and didn't mind the thorns

The last person that i expected to hurt me.
The last person that I thought would leave me,

Left me.

The pain you caused,
I thought was impossible.
The heart you broke,
Is now the most vulnerable.

I'm scared to love only because the one person i loved left me broken.
Im scared to trust because the one i trusted most proved me wrong.

Not even you can help me now.
Your memory remains to feed my pain and to portray my mistakes.

I can only hope that one day the picture of you will change.
And then it will lay in the back of my mind as one lover along the way.

maybe timing made a mistake, and we were meant for each other, just not today
or maybe, just in this lifetime, we are not meant to be, because the most beautiful things are the ones that never stay.
