Chapter 10: To The Safe Shelter(?)

Your POV

At the start of this day, I thought it would be a normal day, waiting for Luria to come back after my village was secured. However, it would seem that she and her companions on the table have been flipped. Now the monsters are starting to invade the Kingdom of Maruytham. This is starting to get more complicated if I don't get ourselves safely to the shelter along with Ena's parents.

"I guess we have to fight them so we can get in!" Ena draws out her sword.

"No, we'll take care of them while you three try to sneak inside to the shelter. On my mark, you will go around and get to safety! Get ready." The knights have their swords on their hands while we should get into the shelter since the threat level is too high. "Go!" A group of knights starts fighting against monsters who are near the entrance of the shelter. We start to make a detour while the knights are distracting every monster who is about to attack the people in the shelter.

Just then, we see minor monsters such as the goblins standing in our way. "Damn it, why can't the knights ever trust us!?" Ena grips her sword as we start facing them.

"It's because we're classified as civilians and students of the academy. Of course, we couldn't do anything like we wanted to in higher threats!" Leaf explains while having her arrow being drawn back by the bow. "We have to listen to what the knights say so we can get ourselves to safety!" She fires out her arrow at one of the goblins, defeating one of them. Is that what I would do? Just to run away from a fight like it happened last time?

Skipping Minor Issues

"Take this!" Ena slashes down the remaining goblins while I managed to finish off the last one. Leaf shot down the last archer goblin as we started to press on.

"That's the last of them for now! We're almost there, just a bit more!" Leaf informs us while we're almost there to the shelter. Right until now that we're heading to the entrance, I notice a big crash behind our backs. I start to turn back while seeing the knights now facing a monster that seems to be more powerful than the ones we've faced before.

"Y/n, what are you doing!? We need to get in, now!" Leaf exclaims. I couldn't hear her because I am standing by the entrance to the shelter. "Come on, we don't have time for this!" She pulls my arm while heading down to the shelter underground from the surface.

We all ran down to the safe area where everyone is gathered in. "I just hope that my parents would be there. I wonder where they are now." Ena wonders while she is standing next to me.

"The knights are looking for them. That's what I know so far." I said to her.

"Here I would have tried to be the official protector to fight alongside with the knights, but I'm still a student at the Mythical academy. I cannot provide permission for that." Leaf explains why we have to focus on bringing ourselves to safety from the higher threat than just ordinary fight when being explorers and such rather than higher professional knights. "Right now, all we can do now is the hope of the best that we will survive through the invasion. They are doing their best to protect the citizens of Maruytham."

"I..." I thought if this is ok to just let them do all of the work. I'm still in the process of training, knowing how to fight, and learning the basic skills until advancing to the next step. I felt weird, trying to rethink back to what I truly am. Why am I here in this world? What is my goal for my future? All I can think of is finding answers in that parallel tower.

"Y/n?" Ena questions my thoughts around. I was thinking too much. "Y/n!"

"Huh!?" I snapped out while having my eyes focused on the world I'm standing in right now.
