TRIGGER WARNING: MENTIONS OF DEATH

-

Draco Malfoy

I stumbled into my bedroom, slamming the door behind me as I vigorously wiped away the tears staining my cheeks. I grabbed the empty glass on my bedside table and threw it at the wall opposite of me.

"Fuck," I seethed, running my hands through my hair before punching the wall with a curled up fist. It left a dent in the wall and a few bloody scratches on my knuckles.

I plopped down on the edge of my bed, resting my elbows on my knees and biting my nails to try and fight back the hiccups.

A wide range of emotions swarmed me: anger, frustration, guilt, sadness...

It was too much to cope on my own.

I got up from my bed and stormed over to my desk, ripping out a piece of parchment and quill. Tears continued falling down my face, smudging the ink as I messily scribbled down:

Please come over. I need you.

I hurriedly stuffed letter into the small compartment attached to my owl's leg and opened the window. The cool winter air rushed in as my owl departed.

I shut the window behind me, walking back over to my bed as my hiccups echoed throughout the spacious room. I felt like I was suffocating. Lifting my chin, I loosened my tie and unbuttoned the top few buttons of my shirt.

An ugly sob escaped my mouth as I collapsed onto the floor beside my bed.

I need her.

I need her here so badly because I don't know how to deal with this on my own.

I hugged my knees, gazing mindlessly at the ground as I waited for numbness to take over.

"Where is he?"

"In here, miss."

I continued staring out the window in front of me when I heard my bedroom door open. Soft footsteps followed before I felt her hair graze my shoulder as she took a seat on the floor beside me.

"Draco," her soft voice cooed. I shut my eyes, losing myself in the feeling of her hand rubbing my back.

I slowly turned to look at Alora, noticing her brown eyes soften upon seeing how wrecked my face looked. I opened my mouth to try and say something, but I couldn't find the right words. My breath hitched, and the pain in my chest ached too much.

"What happened?" she whispered, scooting closer and wrapping her arm tighter around my broad shoulders.

"She-she..."

Alora continued rubbing her thumb along my upper arm, helping me take deeper breaths and calm down my palpitating heart.

"She died," I finally let out.

Alora froze. I noticed the alarmed look on her face out of the corner of my eye. I gulped, continuing to avoid eye contact because I was still in shock myself.

"What? Who died?" She took out her wand using her free hand, casting a spell to heal the cuts on my knuckles. She lifted one of my hands, placing a gentle kiss on the back of it before resting her hand on top of mine.

I let out a few more ragged breaths before turning to look at her again, "Astoria."

Her eyes widened and her lips parted in utter bewilderment, "Wh-What? How?"
