Alora Lin
I woke up on Christmas morning, stretching out my limbs and making my body take up the entirety of my queen sized bed.
Without Theo here, the bed seemed cold and empty. But the loneliness I was experiencing quickly dissipated once I sat up and noticed a pile of presents at the foot of my bed.
Even though I was alone, I still felt all of the holiday joy that Christmas typically brings.
With a flick of my wand, the windows' curtains magically drew open, bringing in rays of sunlight. Snow had started to pile up on the ground outside, making my bedroom even brighter.
I crawled to the edge of my bed and reached for the nearest present. It was a rolled up piece of parchment that was carefully tied with a red ribbon.
I unraveled the paper to read a letter from my parents, stating that once they came back from the Caribbean, they would transfer 1,000 galleons from their Gringotts vault into mine.
As I've gotten older, my parents have slowly come to the realization that buying me toys or candy will no longer suffice. They've decided that giving me money is the best gift since I can spend it however I like it.
I smiled at the generous gift, rolling the parchment back up and putting it to the side as I reached out for the next present.
I opened the relatively thin rectangular box and moved aside the tissue paper before immediately putting it back in place once I realized what it was.
I blinked a few times, trying to convince myself that I had simply been imagining it. After I had moved the tissue paper to the side again, I concluded that I hadn't been dreaming after all.
A white lingerie set was neatly laid out before me. The bralette and underwear were both made out of lace and practically see through.
After picking up the small note tucked inside the box, I unfolded it to read:
For your wedding night with Theo xx
Padma
The edges of my lips curled into a smirk.
This was such a Padma thing to do.
But I can't complain since I'm actually in need of a new lingerie set.
Moving on to the next gift, I carefully traced my fingers over the black velvet box before prying it open.
A gorgeous diamond necklace was resting within the box. My jaw nearly dropped as I watched the diamonds reflect the sunlight streaming in from the windows. It gave the necklace a shimmery and almost ethereal appearance.
The card attached to the box was signed with Theo's name, and on it, he wrote that I now had a necklace to match my engagement ring.
My cheeks were starting to burn with how much I was smiling. I eagerly took the necklace out of the box and fastened it around my neck.
I can't wait for Theo to come home.
There was one last present sitting at the foot of my bed. I grabbed the shopping bag and rummaged my hand through the interior. My fingers came across something silky and soft.
My brows furrowed as I grasped the cloth and pulled it out of the bag. My eyes widened when I recognized the familiar dress.
