Mycenaean City state of Argos. North Eastern coastline of Greece.
The City of Argos, a Mycenaean stronghold and fortress city state was getting ready for war once more. War had always been here, atleast for the Mycenaean Greeks as their people had always herm fighting with each other, always, choosing instead to fight and do battle againts one another for differing ideals, motives and even beliefs... However the City of Argos was a different case entirely. They had mostly been seperated from the rest of the Greek world, with their city being located at the North Eastern coastline of the Greek world, they only ever had contact with their 'Kin' through both land and sea based trade - However the city of Argos has always been trading with the Hittites and Egyptians with their vast copper and nickle mines, trading their wealth in the Bronze age world.
The markets were full of people as Hittite and Egyptian merchants did business with their Mycenaean counterparts, as the plentiful harvests came and went.
However as this was all happening, a single messenger came. Riding upon a simple wooden chariot pulled by a team of horses they rushed towards the center of the city where the Palace was located and where the King of Argos resided.
As the chariot rushed through the city and got to the gates of the Palace, they were stopped by 2 of the palace guards who blocked the way with their tower shields and had their Spears at the ready and there one of them said
"Halt! What brings you here?"The messenger than said
"I'm here to deliver a message to the King of Argos! There is an urgent message that I must deliver immediately!"Hearing this, the guards lowered their weapons and allowed the messenger through, he dismounted his chariot and ran straight into the Palace wearing nothing but the light clothes upon his back and there, as he ran up the stairs he started praying to mighty Apollo and all the Olympians for success and that the king would heed his word.
But as he ran up the stairs, he looked to his right for but a brief moment, looking at one of the large buildings in the surrounding city - There he could see... Someone... He could see an etherial form as if there was a ghost forming into a shadowy form right there and than as a darkish fog sorrounded the figure. The messenger blinked but than that figure was gone, was it merely an illusion? Was he that exhausted from the long northern route coming here? It mattered not, for soon he was escorted into the Palace by its guards to present his case to the King of Argos.
Upon entering the audience chamber within, the messenger walked forward and there presented his case to him - Kneeling down before the King of the city of Argos he said
"My lord... I have come bearing an important message for you!"The King of Argos than nodded, perhaps wishing for privacy he dismissed the Palace guards who than waited behind an anti chamber of sorts behind the main audience room and there the King said
"On behalf of my people, I welcome you. Now, what have you brought me? What is your business here in my city today?"The messenger than handed the king a series of clay tablets all the while kneeling down and saying
"I have an urgent request for aid my lord... From another king, to you and it is a most urgent matter.""An emergency? Why should I aid my rival cities?" the King answered as he took the clay tablets which made up the message and than started reading it as he sat upon his throne.
He's eyes widened with curiosity as he read in his mind. The tablets read
"My brother. Fellow Mycenaean, I require aid from a most urgent act of sacrilege within my city to the north. I do not have the military might as you do and I am in urgent need of men and material, for all my soldiers are in the land of Hatti and my ships are in the aegean sea... There is a strange new cult that has arisen within my city, the countryside is abandoned unto itself and this 'Seiptti' as they call themselves did evil in country - they were like Devils from my most horrid nightmares and appeared as servants of Hades or the final Titans - They were fanatical in their belief off one true diety and they burned down the temples and took the offerings to the Gods for their very own. They called out the priests and they branded them as heretics before evoking their God to smight them, where in they killed this men." the first tablet read.
