Chapter 32

When we arrived at the Institute, all of us went different ways.
I had asked to talk with Alec in private, after today we had a lot to talk about, but I knew he didn't want to. We were both leaning in the doors of our respective rooms, the hallway empty.

I couldn't take the silence anymore." I know you don't want to hear it, so I'll just say it once. Whatever Camille said about my lifespan is false. I'm no different than you, Shadowhunters die too in their missions , you risk your lives every day, so do I."

"What if I can't protect you? What if you're taken from me? Valentine wants you, how am I supposed to stop him?"

"Alec, I am thankful for your protection but I don't need it, if I am to die so be it. I don't know what the future has in store for us, but the past and the present linked us. I plan on enjoying my time with you and our friends."

We heard footsteps, Luke and Magnus appeared on the corner.

"They're ready." Luke sighed." They moved her to the Ops Center."

"We need the space, Jocelyn's spell is very powerful. " Magnus explained and they walked away.

I approached Alec and kissed him slowly and he kissed back.

"Let's go." He nodded.

We walked into Ops Center and joined the others. It was important that we wake up Jocelyn, it had been our goal since the start. I was thankful for finally having found her, Clary needed her mom more than ever and we needed her to save Jace from Valentine's mind games. I took Clary's hand and squeeze it.

"Do you really think this is gonna work?" Clary asked Magnus giving him the Book of the White.

"Let us hope." He snapped his fingers." Jocelyn..." He called the started speaking a foreign language using magic.

When he finished Luke prevented Jocelyn from falling and took in his arms bridal style.

She woke up and looked at Luke." I got you." He told her

"Luke." Jocelyn hugged him. He let her on her legs and I dropped Clary's hand.
Jocelyn looked around and when they landed on her daughter she hugged her.

"Mom..." Clary said her voice breaking." I've missed you so much."

"Oh... I'm so sorry I didn't tell you about your past." She apologized.

"No, not now. I have had enough for one day. We can talk about all that later. Right now, I just... I just really need my mom." Clary spoke sobbing in her mother's embrace.

Alec's hand held my waist and I let my head rest on his chest. I stared at him and in his eyes I could see my futur with him.
