blush.
eyebrow pencil.
eyelash curler.
mascara.
eyeliner.
eyeshadow.
lip balm.
lip liner.
lip gloss.
lipstick.
Why does a girl have to rob herself of breath to make herself beautiful?
All the curls are straightened.
The straightened then curled.
A monstrosity of manufactured idealism unfurled.
All these products lining the shelves
taking girls' identities away from themselves.
She's hunting for facials and treatments and potions.
bath bombs and exfoliating scrubs and sweet scented lotions.
cleaners and moisturizers and toners and masks.
rituals and routines become tedious tasks.
But why
attention is drawn by faces of perfection?
But a personality gone wrong is the truth of deflection.
Her purse can't conjure a single coin or bill.
If she doesnt believe she's gorgeous then who will.
Girl don't ever be afraid of a bare face and try to let down your hair.
Because i promise you there's a crown in there somewhere.
Pin it to your tresses.
Tie up the ribbons on your dresses
and stand tall like the queen you are.
Now thats true beauty.
