Izuku's POV
During the weekend, everyone trained for the upcoming exam. I helped Lyra study for the written exams whenever I could and learned a lot about her. She said her favorites thing to do was to paint and, of course, flying. I would use float to bring her above the clouds with her pointing out constellations and the stories behind them. It was the most I've ever seen her talk. Her eyes held stardust themselves when we were up there. I had forgotten what it was like to relax and have fun. I threw myself into training for so long, it had seemed normal. But now, I remembered why I wanted to be a hero. Not to get stronger, but to protect people so they could experience moments like these. It was soon finals day and the atmosphere in Ms.Ellis's classroom was tense. She warned us about cheating and of the consequences. Fortunately for me, the written exam was fairly easy and I flew through it. I glanced at Kat who was bouncing her knee up and down. She looked frantic as she heard the clock tick. Lyra,on the other hand, looked calm and turned her test in as well. Kat finished soon after and we walked outside trying to find the others.
"It wasn't as bad as I thought." I remarked. Lyra hummed in agreement.
Kat shrugged. "Honestly whatever happens, happens. I always sucked at taking tests but I'm positive I didn't fail. Let's hope the physical final exam is doable."
"I'm sure you did great Kat." Lyra said. Kat gave Lyra a fist bump while I chuckled.
Unfortunately the other three weren't at our usual spot so we couldn't meet up with them before the physical exam.
The three of us walked in and sat down on the bleachers next to another class and saw Scarlet, Oliver, and North sitting on the opposite side.
A tall man stepped up to the center."To Ms.Ellis's class, I'm Mr.Tran. This year for the second part of your finals you will be fighting your fellow students. It will be randomized between our two classes so you might me versing someone from your own class or mine. If you lose, there will be no reduction to your score. We'll give you five minutes to warm up"
I heard a few sighs of relief and glanced at Kat who immediately walked down and began to stretch. I followed her pulling Lyra along. I felt Lyra's hand trembling and gave her a questioning look.
"Hey" I whispered gazing into her golden eyes.
She snapped out of her daze. "Hi."
"You alright?"
"I'm just worried. I have no quirk."
"And that's exactly why the your opponent will underestimate you. Use that to your advantage."
"Cmon guys. You can do that stuff later. Warm up" Kat muttered while sliding down into a splits. Lyra gawked at her and the total casualness of it.
We went through our usual stretches and Mr.Tran told us to take a seat. "There will be 6 matches going on at once. Now on Mat 1 Erin and Scarlet, Mat 2 Brandon and Timothy, Mat 3 Oliver and Katherine , Mat 4 Gary and Isaac, Mat 5 Serena and Christina, and Mat 6 Hugh and Jasmine. Once a match ends, the next pair will immediately be announced so be ready."
Kat took a deep breath. "Wish me luck."
"Good luck to the both of you." Lyra smiled. I gave Kat a fist bump and she entered the mat. I saw Oli jump in excitement while Scarlet entered her mat with a serious look.
A bell sounded through the gym and the students immediately began to fight. Oliver went on the offense and continuously attacked Kat,who shielded herself. She formed another shield around Oliver and contained some his plants but not all. Scarlet jumped into her pocket dimension and reappeared in flash behind the other student and knocked her out immediately. She scoffed at the unconscious female figure and walked out.
