Lyra's POV
The cold sweet taste of vanilla exploded in my mouth as I licked the delicious ice cream off my spoon."No way. I don't believe you."
Izuku smirked. "It's the truth."
"So you're telling me? You didn't use your quirk at all and still won the Obstacle Race during the Sports Festival?"
"Mhm basically catapulted over them using the mines that were laid out."
I threw my bowl away and turned towards him. "How'd you even do that?"
Izuku shrugged. "Everything had to be timed perfectly: when to actually catapult off the mines; the landing; getting through Bakugou and Todoroki..." He trailed off and gave me a sheepish smile.
"I'm surprised agencies didn't call you after that."
"Well to be fair, I couldn't really control my quirk."
I shrugged. "I don't know. If I was a head of an agency, I would choose a smart hero over a powerful one who can't think."
He smiled. "Fair point."
He led me to the park and we had a small picnic talking about random things. It felt nice to relax and not worry about anything. I don't think I've had a day like this, since the hospital. It was all just giving statements and working out to Izuku's crazy drills that left me sore everywhere. I still don't know how he did those, but it was working. My wings felt much lighter to carry. Not to mention the hours Izuku and I poured into figuring out the limits of my quirk. I couldn't thank him enough as my quirk became second nature to me. Time flew by and I was happy. Really happy.
Izuku laid down with his head resting on my lap as I leaned against a tree with my wings tucked in. His eyes were closed and I simply gazed at him, wondering what I did to deserve this. I traced my finger along his jaw, then his cheek, his nose...his mouth.
His hand shot out and grabbed my wrist as he opened his eyes, "What are you doing, Lyra?"
I blushed at the way he said my name, like he worshipped it, and gave him an innocent smile, "Nothing."
His eyes glowed as he pressed a soft kiss my wrist, igniting me on fire. I couldn't look away from his blazing eyes, holding my gaze captive with the sheer power behind them. This was the man who had the power to destroy or save the entire world. The man who had the weight of the world on his shoulders and yet smiled so beautifully as he strived to save it—to make it better. The confident hero with a gentle heart.
And he was all mine.
"Wanna head home?" He asked, with a promising smile, his eyes matching the fire in mine.
I nodded and he pulled me up, his hand resting on my waist as we walked back, when a flash of white barreled into him. I let out a small cry of surprise as he bumped into me. He gave me a quick glance and when he saw I was ok he kneeled down. Izuku reached for the figure . "I'm sorry. You really took a tumble there. Are you ok?"
I saw the figure flinch and quickly kneel down beside Izuku. A little girl with long white hair was breathing harshly as she flinched away from us. She had a little horn on the right side of her head and large red eyes filled with undiluted fear as she trembled.
"You should be more careful. We don't want to cause trouble for the heroes. Let's go home Eri." A raspy voice drawled out from behind her. Eri froze in Izuku's arms, while my palms grew sweaty at her reaction. It was just like mine when Cyanide spoke to me. We looked up to see a tall man with dark yellow eyes and a bird mask on.
His gloved hands stayed limp at his sides. "I hope you'll forgive my daughter Raiden . I don't know what to do with her. Always playing rough and bumping into things." I froze and by the way Izuku stiffened I knew he could tell. This man was dangerous. My eyes glanced at Eri's bandaged hands and I clenched my fists. The man studied the two of us and I shivered as I met his gaze. He didn't break eye contact with me until I glanced at his mask. He seemed to find what he was looking for and gestured to the mask.
