𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐞𝐥𝐞𝐠𝐚𝐧𝐭 𝐛𝐥𝐚𝐜𝐤 𝐡𝐨𝐫𝐬𝐞 𝐭𝐫𝐮𝐝𝐠𝐞𝐝 𝐭𝐡𝐫𝐨𝐮𝐠𝐡 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐦𝐮𝐝𝐝𝐲 𝐥𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐬. Meadow was still seated on the saddle, both her dual swords ready and tied on her back.
Kaz had walked off to find Fjodor's tent a while ago. And now Jesper, Inej and Meadow were ready to take on the soldiers if they ever came.
Meadow definitely felt the nerves now. First it wasn't that bad but now it definitely was. Her hands were slightly shaking where she held onto the reigns.
But she had Inej and Jesper with her. And that made her feel a little more at peace.
The camp was quiet and the woods were dark. You could hear the ruffling of the leafs and the footsteps of the horses in the mud but besides that, everything was awfully quiet.
A saying her grandmother sometimes used was; stilte voor de storm. Which translated meant silence before the storm. And Meadow really felt like this was it. The silence before the big storm would happen and before the hundreds of soldiers would attack.
And while Meadow tried to calm herself down, one soldier made his way into the stables to go get his horse and go look at the camps border. Only to find all the horses gone.
"Our horses are missing!" A cold and low manly voice was heard all over the camp. Meadow also heard it together with Inej and Jesper, and they were at the entrance of the camp. Which meant the all the soldiers in their tents must have heard it too.
After the yell the silence in the camp was completely missing. You could hear the soldiers shouting at each other and the sound of their metal armour.
Meadow took deep breaths, now was definitely not the time to panic. Inej and Meadows eyes met, Inej gave Meadow a reassuring nod. Meadow smiled back slightly, knowing that Inej, and probably Jesper, had her back.
The black and tall horse Meadow was seated on started to step around, probably a bit panicked about was exactly was going on.
So Meadow leaned down and started patting the horse. Right where a silver star was in it's neck. Meadow was still confused about why that star was in it's neck.
Slowly all the soldiers lined up in their camp. All with their faces towards the trio on their horses, who where stood in the entrance of the camp.
Inej, Jesper and Meadow's gazes locked. And with a small and subtle nod that Inej gave the other two, the three horses ran towards the big army.
The soldiers didn't look scared. They were with a few hundred and created a big group of silver armoured men.
The horses ran as fast as they could, almost knowing that they needed the speed. But the tall black horse Mead was seated on was the fastest and took the lead. The galloping through the mud was all there could be heard. But that ended when the soldiers came in action.
"Attack!" A manly voice screamed through the camp. And that's exactly what the soldiers did. With battle cries and spears and covered in armour the men came running towards them.
Meadow let go of the reigns and grabbed her dual swords from her holster. The soldiers came closer and the horse didn't stop galloping.
Meadow turned behind her to see Jesper ready with his guns and Inej throwing her first dagger at a soldier.
Meadow turned back knowing what she had to do. She had to be brave now, to show no fear and to be the powerful woman her grandmother raised her to be. And so that's what she did. With a face void of emotion she sliced her sword through a soldier's face.
The soldiers ran around the horses and the horses just kept on running. The tall black one definitely wasn't afraid of people. Because the horse trampled soldier after soldier.
The trio took out soldier after soldier. And it didn't take long. The rumours of this army being the most cruel army to have ever walk the earth were just rumours. In fact Meadow found the men in armour quite pathetic. They didn't even manage to hit her once. Not with their swords and also not with their guns.
But that was a stupid thing to think. Because just when she turned to a soldier and attack him she felt immense pain in her side. And as Meadow turned to look at what it was she found an arrow deeply pierced into her waist.
Meadow's cry in pain didn't go unnoticed and Inej saw the brunette struggle. "Go! Find Kaz! We've got this!" Inej screamed at Meadow over all the battle sound and slicing swords. Meadow didn't need to be told twice and the horse with her on it immediately made it's way away from the battle.
Despite the pain Meadow manoeuvred the horse through the tents to find the right one. And the horse elegantly galloped through the tents and followed Meadows lead.
But the horse abruptly came to a halt when it heard struggled sounds come out of a tent. It signalled with it's head that that was the tent Meadow was looking for.
Meadow slowly got off the horse. She strapped one sword in the holster and kept the other in a hand while keeping her other hand on the wound what was still closed by the arrow.
Meadow limped into the tent with her sword in front of her only to kind Kaz having the legendary murderer Fjodor Ivanov in a chokehold
Kaz looked up at Meadow entering. "Is everything alright? You're supposed to be fighting the soldiers." He said with a not so welcoming tone.
Meadow understood why he talked to her like that. His connection with Jesper and Inej were so different. Even worse, Meadow and Kaz didn't even have a connection. He just asked her to come and so she came.
Meadow grimaced. "Let's just say that I'm in no condition to fight anymore." And with a nod of her head she directed his gaze to the bloody arrow still stuck in her side.
Kaz' eyes widened just for a split second. Shocked to see the arrow so deep inside the young brunette's body. It could easily have pierced right through her liver.
