The crowd erupts into screams and applause as the spotlight followed Trent on stage. He wore denim jeans and a shirt which had the top few buttons undone, showing some of the small tattoos he has there.

"Good evening Dallas!" He called out, only amplifying the roars of applause and screams. "I want to start with a song I know everyone here has heard." He says as he begins to play Roam, making me chuckle as he emphasises what he said aimed at me. It had quickly become our little inside joke.

It was about halfway through the set, and I have to admit that he is very talented. There was a beauty to the way he wrote and performed. It was just genuine. He wasn't trying to fit the mainstream way an artist like him should be. He made his own sound.

"If you guys don't mind, I'd like to take a moment to play one song in particular. Just for tonight. I've spent some time back home, with the people who mean the most to me. Got to meet new additions to that list." He says, making Aria wave her hands frantically in the air.

"As an artist, I am blessed to be able to travel the world, meet each and every one of you. But there's something about being here. Being home. It's where I belong. Which is why I want to play you a new song tonight." He said as everyone screamed.

"Something new that was written recently. I played the melody with someone very special to me and they just sang a line. And it just gave me all the inspiration I needed. So I'll stop talking now.." he said chuckling as everyone laughed. "Here's a new song I'd like to call Night Never Fades."

As his fingers began strumming his acoustic guitar, I was instantly hit with the realisation. This was the song from the other night. The one he played around the fire pit the night we kissed. He was talking about me.

My eyes filled with tears as I listened to the song he played. His eyes were fixed on me from all the way on the stage. As if he was only interested in letting me listen.

Trent sang about how time kept us apart, how lord changed in that time. We lost things. The emotion of the slower song hit me straight in the heart. But it wasn't until later in the song when the tears I'd held back for this long dripped down my cheeks.

"Meet me where the stars fall, where the moon gets its chance to shine. We might watch it fade everyday, but one thing that won't fade is this love of mine." He sang.

That was what I sang the other night. What just came out randomly. And he kept it. He kept it in the song.

The song came to a close, quickly wiping the tears from my face as Grace looked at me with confusion. "You ok?" She mouthed and I just nodded, a big smile on my face.

Why was I crying?

Because, in this moment, something in me changed. He left me eight years ago and it broke my heart. But I pulled myself back together and ended up getting married to Carson. Only for him to shatter me the day I found out about being pregnant. It was that moment where I decided love was a myth.

I forced myself to only let my daughter take my focus. My daughter and my family that's taken the form of my blood relatives, and my best friends. But I was set that I'd never have anyone love me again. Not how they should.

Then Trent came back to town. He told me the reason why he left. He bonded with Aria. He made me feel at peace. At home in my own home. And this song?

This song..

It just broke down everything I thought for years. I no longer believed that romance wasn't something I was going to have again. Because, right now as he shared his feelings with thousands of people, he still only had one focus.

Me.

Now, when I think about my future, I don't want it to be the same. I want it to have Trent Donovan in it.

"Thank you." He said as the crowd roared with applause. He kissed his hand, throwing it in our direction as his eyes met mine once again. The crowds eyes followed his actions as they landed on us.

"Also, big shoutout to the people stood in that section right there." He said , pointing to us. Now the whole crowd was looking at us. "Those people are the reason I'm where I am today. My family. My little cowgirl..." he points at Aria who waves up at him. "My inspiration.." he adds seriously, looking at me as I smile up at him.

"Right..let's carry on, bring the beat up a bit!" He says, finishing the rest of the show.

After the show finished, we got escorted backstage. Hudson walked with Aria in his arms, the both of them singing. As soon as I turned the corner and saw him stood there talking, a small creeped on my face.

His eyes scanned the room until they landed on me. I watched Trent politely dismiss the people he was talking to, walking towards me. I took a few steps too, meeting him.

His big smirk looked down at me as his forehead glistened. "What did you think? Have I converted you to a country girl?" He asked humorously.

I gave him a serious look, placing my hands on his cheeks before pulling him down into a deep, passionate kiss. He didn't hesitate, his hands gripping my waist as our mouths moved in perfect harmony.

I pulled away, catching my breath as I looked up at him, my forehead pressed against his. "Forget what I said the other night. This doesn't mean nothing. It's always been you, Trent Donovan.." I whisper, watching as a huge smile takes over his face. "It's as if nothings changed. You're still the same person you were to me eight years ago."

"ti amo più delle stelle.. (I love you more than the stars..)" he whispers down to me. "..E la luna. (..and the moon)" I whisper back.

Eight years apart, yet nothing seems to have changed

Eight years apart, yet nothing seems to have changed. They still harbour the same feelings.
I guess it's hard to get over a love like theirs.
