She spent ninety-one weeks as world number one,
And that was after her singles career was done.
She's won doubles titles at every major,
She's even a UN Goodwill Ambassador.
She fights the good fight and inspires so many,
And now she's inadvertently inspiring the fighter in me.
When depression has me feeling like I can't go much further,
I remember how she was injured and came back to conquer.
When I look in the mirror and I don't recognize who I see,
I remember how her beautiful eyes saw me so clearly.
When I'm feeling like I'm a set and a double break down,
I run across Eastbourne to that special spot in town –
The corner of Compton Street and Howard Square –
And I remember Sania Mirza saw me running there.
