I knew exactly where you were going to go,
And I knew there'd be no place for me there, so
I turned and ran the other way.
I had a premonition, I'll never forget it;
You were there in your bright pink jacket,
The only thing that wasn't grey on the gloomy day.
I could have been there with you
Instead of spending a year or two missing you,
But I knew you had no need of me.
I was just a ride you were taking
On the way to your destination,
Just a minor part of your life's journey.
I hope for you things worked out for the best,
But I'll always miss you, nonetheless.
