The orange haired girl sighed, looking out the window, into the gorgeous sunset.
It was lovely, indeed, but she wished she could see it upfront and not just through the window of the mansion.
She took a deep breath, feeling bored as hell. She was waiting for her housemates and childhood friends to come home, it's almost time. The clock was ticking and showed that it was almost 6 PM.
As on cue, the next second, she heard a knock on her door.
"Ducky, it's me," A voice called out from behind the door. "Can I come in?"
"Mhm." Duck replied, turning her attention from the window to her room's door.
The door clicked open, and a brown haired, short girl was standing on the other side.
"You're home pretty early today, Rachel."
The brunette chuckled in reply. "Yeah, I guess you can say that." Rachel hummed, walking into the room and closing the door behind her. "Nothing really happened in my shift, but I don't know about the other two."
Ducky nodded, and gestured for Rachel to sit next to her on the mini couch. Rachel did as so, walking to the couch and sitting down. She then looked out the window.
"Nice view, huh?" Rachel commented on the sunset. "Your room is the only one actually facing the sun when it sets, so I imagine you must get nice, beautiful scenes."
"...Yeah, it's pretty nice," Ducky mumbled a reply, smiling slightly as she also viewed the outside world. "...but I wish I could see it in its full glory outside like you guys do."
Rachel froze a bit at the mention of her job, she knew Ducky felt a bit left out since she was the only one in the household that wasn't a hero. She would always be left alone at home, although most times with the bot servants, while the other three would go out on their shifts. "Ducky-"
"Yeah, Yeah, don't worry about it, I'm fine." Ducky cut her off, knowing what she was going to say, as she would rather avoid the topic. "I'm feeling a bit bored. Since we both have time to waste, what should we do?"
"Hmm... Ah- right!" Rachel snapped her fingers, which was a sign that she remembered something. "MEE6 is out today, so we'll need to cook dinner ourselves." She said as she stood up.
"Yeah, I did notice that they weren't here today." Ducky replied, also getting off of the couch. "Where did they go?"
The two started walking out of the room, and out to the halls. "They said they needed to visit Human, which is currently out of town." Rachel stated as they went down the stairs, heading towards the kitchen.
"Right... one of your many adoptive children." Ducky rolled her eyes jokingly. "Seriously though, your family is already big as it is, stop adopting random children."
"I only have TWO adoptive children, mind you." Rachel retorted back. "And it's not my fault that they're both married."
"You're 23, and you already have a big family-"
"Alright alright, I get it, shush." Rachel replied quickly as they entered the kitchen. She opened the refrigerator and grabbed a bunch of veggies, like carrots, corn, tomatoes, and more. She closed the fridge, and turned to the soup auto cooker, whilst Ducky watched from the other side of the counter. Rachel opened the hatch, and plopped the healthy veggies into the cooker, before glancing to Ducky. "Hey- can you help get the water, please?" she asked while opening the spices cabinet for the salt and sugar.
"Oki." Ducky shortly replied, walking to the cabinet and grabbing the magic water storer kettle, before closing the cabinet again and heading for the sink. She turned the tap on, and filled the kettle with water, which magically the kettle never overflowed no matter how much water was stored in it. She then stopped the water when she thought it was enough, and closed the kettle cap. She then walked over to where Rachel was stuffing spices into the soup cooker and placed the kettle besides the cooker on the counter.
"Thank." Rachel briefly nodded, before taking the kettle and pouring the water into the cooker.
A moment later, a doorbell rang out.
"Oh, that's probably Galaxy." Rachel said, turning the cooker on and then glancing at Ducky. "Can you open the door for them? I still need to prepare dinner."
"Aight." Ducky nodded, walking out of the kitchen and down the stairs.
She finally reached the front room, unlocked the door, and opened it. A bubblegum pink haired girl was on the other side of the door. "Sorry- I forgot my keys again, thanks for opening the door, Ducky." She sighed.
"Couldn't you just have teleported in-?" Ducky asked, opening the door wide and allowing Her in. "Oh- you're still wearing your hero costume."
Galaxy walked into the mansion, along with Ducky, who closed the door behind them. "Yeah, I didn't have time to switch at the agency." She replied. "Also- what's for dinner? I smell something delicious."
"Just ordinary veggie soup." Ducky replied as they walked into the dining room, which was outside the kitchen. Rachel wasn't in the room, but the bowls of soup and the chairs had been set. They sat down on different seats, deciding to just wait for Rachel, which was probably still in the kitchen.
"Actually, maybe I should change and take a shower first." Galaxy said, getting up from her chair. "See you in a minute or twenty."
Minutes later, Rachel nor Galaxy had returned. Instead, another brown haired girl had come back home.
"Oh, good afternoon, Ducky." Lacuna greeted her as she walked into the dinning room.
"Hi,"
"Where are the others?"
"Galaxy went to take a bath, I don't know about Rachel, I think she's still in the kitchen."
Lacuna nodded briefly, taking a seat at the table.
A few minutes later, Galaxy walked back into the room, a s well as Rachel, who apparently was on call with Pit in the kitchen the entire time.
They then proceeded to eat the still warm soup, since they use warmer bowls, and talk together while eating. They joked and laughed.
Not knowing that this might be the last time it would be like this.
