Tonight was the night you'd go on to night train. The commander had already given you explanations on what you'd be doing.

You were happy though, the forest youd do night training was the forest you and Ymir snuck into while talking the other day. While the others were probably new to the environment, you and Ymir already had an idea of your surroundings.

The big bell had rung, meaning you'd have to meet right next to the entrance of the forest. You'd gone with Sasha there and stood, waiting for the rest of the cadets.

The commander arrived right after, telling you to go get your equipment which was stashed in a separate room which had your equipment in order from size and alphabetical order by name.

You went to your size with the letter of your last name, grabbing the odm gear, clamping it around your waist and setting it in place on your body. The equipment weighted a lot, you didn't notice yesterday, but even walking back to the entrance of the forest in the thing was tiring as hell.

"ALRIGHT MAGGOTS" The commander said loudly as you practically squeezed your eyes closed at the sudden noise. Why's he being so loud and this time at night? It's not even like anyone was being loud.

You all stood in a fashioned line, waiting for instructions.

He just gave you an overall description on what you'd do.

Yesterday morning you'd learned how to balance on the odm gear, but today you'd learn how to use it. In the dark.

"Clicking the handle by your left back side, you will release the string, allowing you to attach yourself to any surface." He said as he was wearing odm gear as well, showing the handle, pressing it gently as he aimed at the tree, attaching the string.

"Everyone do as I did!" He said as you looked as sasha, watching her do it as well. You followed everyone else, attaching to the tree.

"Next, jump towards the location you want to go. The string will pull you to where it's placed." He said as he leapt forward, the string pulling him up on a tree branch above you.

"I'm scared of heights." You heard a girl whisper next to you as you just gulped, waiting for his instruction to follow as he did. And you did.

You were scared, but you jumped as he did and you were pulled directly to the tree, finding a place on a branch next to the commander.

"These are our air tanks." He said as he pointed to the long pole like thing on all of your gears. "They run out after time. Without them you will not be able to move." He advised as he watched everyone.

He turned his body around showing the back of his odm gear. "This is where the air is released. When you unhook yourself from an object, air will be released. If this is broken, you will not be able to control your movements, therefor putting yourself in danger." He said as he turned back around.

"You have two strings. If there is nothing around you, you can't hook them to anything. That's why we're here in the woods." He said as he held onto his odm gear.

"Tomorrow during practice we'll learn how to use odm gear on titans and not our surroundings. But for now follow me by clicking the handle by your back left side." He said as he pressed the handle, hooking himself higher and jumping, letting the string freely pull him up. After you followed him, not looking down, you arrived at the top of the ginormous tree.

"Good job, (y/n), Annie. You made it up here first." The commander acknowledging your progress.

You look over to Annie as she stared back at you.

You gave her a smile with a thumbs up as she nodded back at you with a small smile.

After that was over, the commander helped you learn how to get down. The key was not to look down and have faith in yourself, at least that's what you thought to keep yourself from getting stressed and fucking up.
Touching your feet against the forest floor felt amazing compared to the uneven platform on a tree branch.

Annie and you were the first to touch the ground.

"Nice job." You said as you wiped the sweat off your head.

"You too." She replied in a calm way, not even sounding tired.

You were ordered to go back to your cabin and get to bed. Both you and Annie both walked towards the place the equipment was in, opening the barn like door and placing your odm gear where you'd found it.

"Goodnight." You said towards Annie before leaving the barn like room, going back to your cabin to go to bed.

"Night." She replied as she stayed in the equipment room, placing it steadily and making sure not to damage it.

You waited for Sasha as you sat on your bed comfortably. Lying down after that training was like heaven on your back and legs.

"Hey." You heard the girl whisper.

"Hey sasha." You said as she crept in the room, with a boy following behind her.

"Um...." You said as the boy just stood behind her.

"His names Connie. He's chill." She said as Connie gave you a huge smile.

He was short compared to sasha, not to mention he was bald.

"And why's he in our cabin?" You asked as sasha just shook her head.

"C'mon let him stay here. During training he stayed with me and we mocked the commander the whole time! It was funny!" She said as Connie nodded.

"Oh so you're an idiot too, Connie?" You asked the boy as Sasha interrupted shaking her head.

"We're not idiots!" Was the only thing she said.

"Fine. Stay here but I swear, if you get caught being here and get us all in trouble I'm going to kill you." You said to both Sasha and Connie as they nodded in fear.

Soon after krista and Ymir came into the cabin together being just as confused about the boy beside Sasha as you were.

"Don't even bother." You told ymir before she got the chance to tell the guy to get the hell out of there.

She just rolled her eyes as she got on her bunk, quickly crashing. Krista was fast asleep before you knew it too.

You were tired and exhausted as well, but you couldn't sleep with the fact that sasha was whispering, giggling and sitting on her bunk with a boy you didn't know.

No way she likes the guy. Right?
