"Hey (y/n)!" Sasha yelled from a couple of meters away.

"Can you shut up?" You complained as you took stance, before Sasha came running towards you.

You flipped your leg around her when she was close enough, causing her to flip over and fall to the ground.

Today, you were practicing hand to hand combat. You had no idea why you needed it since the whole point of being here was to fight titans. What were you going to have a fist fight with a titan any time soon? Of course not. So you thought this was useless.

But the commander said it was a requirement so you sucked it up and decided to do it.

You and Sasha were definitely not strong, well, that's why you decided to practice together.

All you did was trip her and push her away with your hands. You didn't know how to form a fist and punch someone, and you definitely weren't willing to try. You didn't want to hurt sasha. The whole point of this training was to hurt people to see whose strong, but I mean, why would you want to hurt them?

"Agh!" You heard a boy around you grunt loudly.

You and Sasha stopped pushing each other as you looked at the boy on the floor.

Standing up beside him was Annie, who was dusting her hands off.

"Holy crap." Sasha said as the boy on the floor struggled.

"Get up." Annie said, not wanting more of an audience.

"Damn it Annie." Reiner said as he pushed himself to get back up.

"Again." She said as she got back into her stance.

"Ugh." Reiner grunted as he stood up, getting back into a stance of his own.

You once again saw Reiner fall to the ground after Annie double attacked his arm and leg at the same time.

You told sasha to wait as you walked towards Annie.

"Annie." You said as she looked up from the boy on the ground to you.

"Hey." She said with little effort as you looked at the boy on the ground holding onto his hurt arm.

"How'd you do that?" You asked as she looked at you.

"I mean he's so big and definitely weighs a lot more. How did you knock him down?" You asked before Reiner interrupted.

"Don't even bother asking her. She won't help others for shit." He said as he sat up on the floor.

Annie side kicked the boy back down onto the floor.

"I'll teach you." She told you as you heard a "WHHHATT?" From the boy on the floor.

"But you never teach anyone- what...-" Reiner sounded shocked.

"Shut up." She told him as she looked back at you.

"Let's go under the shade. I'll help you." She said as you walked with her to a shaded area.

You looked from a distance to see sasha, now practicing with Connie.

"What was that about... with Reiner?" You asked as she shook her head.

"I'm not a cooperative person. He knows that. And I've never really wanted to help someone before." She admitted.

"So what makes you want to help me?" You asked as she shook her head.

"I don't know." She responded.

She stood in her stance, with two arms up.

"Stand like this." She said as you tried copying her.

"No." She said as she stood up straight walking closer to you, pushing your left leg a little bit further from your right.

"There." She said as she stood in her stance again.

"If your legs are too close together you'll fall." She said as you looked at her legs.

She punched her arm straight out, parallel to her body.

"Can you try that?" She asked as you nodded.

You swung your arm forward and tried to match as she did it.

She walked closer to you again as she lifted your arm a little higher.

"Make sure to keep it straight." She said as she nodded.

She showed you how to swing and punch, and even made you try it on her.

You were terrified of hurting her, and she could tell you were resistant.

"I'll be fine." She said as you stood in stance, waiting to punch.

"Go." She said as you swung your fist forward, going for her chest.

She blocked it last second. "Good job." She said as you put your fist down.

"Thanks." You said out of breath.

"I think that's it for today. I'm tired and you're tired." She admitted as she looked back to the lunch room.

Half of the people practicing were on the field while the other half had already departed for the day.

"Let's get a drink." She said as you nodded.

You walked with her into the lunch room, going to the water fountain, you letting her go first.

You took a big gulp after wiping the water off of the side of your lips.

"Thank you for today Annie." You smiled.

"Oh.. it's no problem." She nervously shook her head.

"I'll see you at dinner." You waved as you left.
