The distinct sound of construction and car horns woke up Will from his sleep, the kind of sleep you would get after doing a triathlon. "Ugh..." A groan of anguish was followed up by a loud yawn before he opened his eyes. It seemed to be a bedroom but not his. Ornate cabinets and dressers, beautiful wallpaper and furnishings, an intricately carved glass ceiling light, and his luggage and backpack in the corner. Will got off the king sized 5-star bed and walked over to the adjacent bathroom which looked like something ripped out of a magazine for the rich and famous...from the 1950s.
"Where in the good name of the Marty McFly and Doc Brown am I?" He asked himself. The bedroom door creaked open and in walked his mother, wearing her casual clothes. "Mom!"
"Will, oh good, you're awake." She rushed over and hugged him, and he hugged back. He was beyond happy she was ok. "I'm so glad you're ok."
"Me too." He said, separating from the hug and taking a deep breath. "You will not believe the dream I had. Creepy cults, giant minotaur's and Uncle Wong in a martial arts outfit."
She looked at him with a smile before she got serious. "That wasn't a dream. It happened two nights ago."
"Yeah, right." He chuckled to himself only for her to hold up the Eye of Agamotto. "It wasn't a dream?"
"No, it wasn't." She told him as he sat down on the bed to let that sink in. "That all happened, and Wong and I were beyond worried about you but you're alive now and so is he."
"Wait, two nights ago? I've been asleep for two days?" Will was having a hard time believing all of that and what just happened. "What the hell is going on and where am I?"
"Let's talk about that over breakfast. Your uncle and his students are waiting. Come with me." She led him out of the room to the hallway that was ripped right out of Ritz Carlton hotel. They kept moving until they took the stairs down to the first-floor foyer and he remembered it being the place where that portal took him to. He walked down and saw it was furbished and designed more like a museum then a home with glass display cases all over the place with things he wasn't sure of.
"Where are we?" He asked.
"This place goes by many names but the one your father was most fond of is the Sanctum Sanctorum." Wong said, walking into the foyer from another room dressed in the same robes as before but cleaner.
"Uncle!" Will rushed over and hugged him and Wong hugged back, happy he was ok. "I'm glad you're ok. You are ok, aren't you?"
"Yes, I'm fine. Thanks to you. You were very brave." Wong said, immensely proud of him.
"I thought you said it was stupid?"
"That too but also very brave." His mother added with a smile.
"This place belonged to your father. It was built many years ago, you will be safe here." Wong told him.
"Sanctum Sanctorum? I don't suppose that's in New York?" Will asked.
