The next morning, Will was sitting at the kitchen counter eating a bowl of cereal while reading a spell book disguised as one of his textbooks. Jughead came down the stairs to the kitchen and saw Will eating breakfast and reading through his book when something weird happened. He saw it was a textbook but for some reason when he walked by it looked like an old leather-bound book with weird Latin writing on the cover and one of those weird symbols like he saw at Sweetwater River. Jughead blinked his eyes and shook his head to wake up and saw it was just a regular textbook.
"Jughead, you ok?" Will asked and Jughead saw the textbook was just a textbook. Guess his mind was playing tricks on him.
"Yeah, I'm good. Sorry. Must not have gotten enough sleep." He walked over and poured himself come coffee in his thermos. "So, are we still on for taking that trip to the Sisters of Quiet Mercy?"
"Yeah. We'll head there during our free period and we can avoid taking the bus since I'll drive." Will said but looked around to make sure his mom didn't come down. "And we're clear that we don't tell anyone. If my mom finds out I skipped class, she'll kill me."
"Understood." Jughead replied, grabbing a bowl, and pouring himself some cereal.
After breakfast, they headed to school where Will met Veronica at her locker first thing. He could see she was still grappling with the whole her mom kissing Mr. Andrews as she wasn't her usual happy self. "Hey."
"Hey." Veronica managed a smile as he pulled her into a comforting hug. She sighed and relaxed into the hug, finding it extremely helpful with everything going on. "Your hugs are always the best."
"Good to know." He kissed her on the head before planting a quick one on the lips. "How are you doing?"
"I'm not sure. My mom and I didn't really talk last night. Honestly, a part of me would like nothing more than to just forget it and move on." Veronica told him.
"Well, as your friend I'm ready to do just that and as your boyfriend, I'm ready to help you whenever you're ready to talk to her." He promised and Veronica smiled. "So, are you and Archie set for the big show? What are you singing?"
"You'll have to wait to see that at the show but if you come with, Archie's waiting in the lounge for our practice." Veronica grabbed his hand and led him through the halls to the lounge where they heard signing and guitar playing. They walked inside to see Archie and Valerie practicing together. "Not to be that girl, Archie but I didn't get the memo we were adding another voice to the mix."
"Ronnie, hey. Great news! Valerie quit the Pussycats." Archie said. Valerie smiled but then frowned when she saw the look Veronica had.
"So, that makes me what, then? Backup?" Veronica wondered.
"No. I mean, you were just doing it as a favor to me, right?" Archie pointed out causing Will to sigh and shake his head. Archie had a good heart but he was an idiot when it came to reading people. He didn't need to see the future to know that Archie was gonna put his foot in his mouth.
"You are unbelievable, Archie. You literally have zero loyalty, you ginger Judas!" Veronica told him off.
"Ok, Ronnie. What's wrong?" Archie wondered why she was going off on him like this.
"What's wrong, Archie, besides the fact that you have no integrity whatsoever, is that your father kissed my mother." Veronica told him. It would seem that her resentment towards her mom and Mr. Andrews was starting to boil over. Will signaled to Valerie to leave and she nodded, seeing as how this was starting to get intense.
"Uh, you know what. Maybe I should leave." Valerie stood up and grabbed her things.
"Great idea, Val. I'll join you." Will added.
