Chapter Twenty Five

~

The drive has felt like the shortest one I've ever taken. The more me and Louis talk, the faster time goes. I could have sworn that I left my house 30 minutes ago but nope.

We've been driving for around and hour and fifty minutes.

He and I. Just us.
And it's been nice. Nice to talk with him and feel no rush. Nice to watch him smile and laugh. Nice to have this moment.

It makes my heart flutter.

The car takes a left turn and I look out the window. There were a few buildings lined by gentle mountain slopes.

Louis sighs a bit and leans forward, looking a little to the left. And then he nods a bit and glances to me.

"We're almost there, so now I have one last thing you need to do."
The boy drops one of his hands from the wheel and reaches into his pocket, pulling out a long black strip of cloth.

"Tie this around your head. So that you can't see."

He drops it in my lap, and I immediately feel confused.
"What? Why?" I laugh and pick the thing up, placing it over my eyes and tying behind my head.

"Because otherwise you'll see it right away!" He argues back and even though I can't see, I just know he's smiling.

"Okay fine," I sigh and finish tying it up. Not being able to see where we are makes me a little dizzy. Especially when he takes another turn.

But now I know that whatever the surprise is, it's not a physical gift. It's gotta be something big. I mean he told me I'd see it right away.

"Okay I'm pulling into the parking lot," he says as the car slows down a little. All I see is black.
In just a couple seconds, I feel us stop.

And now my heart is pounding.

"Are you ready?" Louis asks, the excitement in his voice making me even more nervous.
My mind is racing over every possibility of his surprise to me. But I have no clue which it is.

"Yeah I'm ready let's just get it over with. This is killing me."
I start tapping my legs in anticipation, smiling when I hear him chuckle.

"Okay wait right here. I'll come to your side of the car to help you out."
From beside me I hear him open the door, close it, and then silence.

For a moment I hear and see nothing.

Until my side of the car opens, and I feel a hand on my shoulder.

"Alrighty hold onto my arms and I'll guide you out," he instructs and I grasp onto Louis' biceps as he holds back to me.

"Wait move your foot forward a bit. Now to the left a little. Okay now step out."

Confusion tackles me when I step out of the car and the ground doesn't feel rough. My feet sink into a soft texture instead.

Louis let's go of me with one arm and closes the car door.

In the distance I hear a gentle crashing noise. Coming and going.
