8 Lives Chapter 24- Dark Dream to Life

Renessmee's POV

The branches from the trees scratched my skin lightly, but I nonetheless continued on. Each step I took was a step away from Joseph. Away from my father. Away from my mother that no longer remembered me, and was behind all the crashes and turns my life took. I should have broken the engagement long ago, but when he was in the hospital he looked so vulnerable. The way his pale as white sheet skin looked, and the way his eyes did not have the natural shine to them. I couldn't break it to him then, but it had to be done some point or another. I was running out of time. Time was my greatest enemy, other than the major enemy; the unknown person.

It was the last message I had received. The message was under my comfortable pillow. When I pressed my dainty fingers together underneath the pillow to feel the coldness of the other side, I was faced with a papery texture. I unraveled it from beneath me, and read the acts that I had to do. The acts that would only bring me loneliness and regret in my future. The message gave me a dead line of forty eight hours. Forty two hours had passed before I mustered what little courage I had to let go of a life I knew for so long.

In the beginning I never even thought of my mother as a suspect to the crashes and twists my life took, but the more I kept telling myself to do as the message tells me, the more it engraved itself into my brain. Soon it was the only thing I believed of her. The way everything revolved around her, never ever taking the spot light off of her. Her life was constantly in danger when she was a mortal, never was it foretold that the danger would follow her into immortality.

Then there was my father. When I had accused my mother of foul things that embedded into my skull, I felt the range, anger, and frustration when his hand connected with my cheek. The way I portray my mother are my ways of how she poses herself to be. The way I portray her may have been inflicted on the message that told me to let go of all ties of my family; though the way this mystery person perceived her seems the most accurate.

Pushing back the tears that wanted to slide down my face, I focused on the way the trees felt under my fingertips. I was not crying for my father that used his hand on me or the my mother that doesn't remember, but for the fiance I was leaving behind. I had to leave him, even though the sweet moments we had were short lived. He thought of Bella as an innocent person in a game of chess used as a pawn to move against will. A voice entered my head, and I found myself agreeing with it. The hell with him, I thought as a sickening smile began making its way to my face. I did not need him to live, he was just someone that I used as a rock to hold my head strong.

Stronger than I already was. Oh, who am I kidding! I am going to miss him to literal pieces, I whimpered in my head. My thoughts took a sudden U-turn, and I found myself disregarding my last thought.

"Renessmee, we are going to stop by the pond over there to hunt. Our eyes are blackening, perhaps you would like to feed as well. If not, we will meet you back at this pond in about an hour." Carmen replied as she, Kate and Eleazar went their separate ways. I nodded my head and sat on a log pulled by its roots.
