Edward's Pov

The rings that now lay on my palm, was my last straw. I do not know how long I can take the things that strive and stick into my life as a plaque. I never asked for any of this to happen; in some ways when Bella and I had fought for our love it made us stronger, but that contact was now broken.

Possibly, beyond repair.

The way her hallow eyes stared into each and every one of our faces- with no remembrance of who we are-was enough to have us all broken pieces of glass disseminated on the floor. Even though we were all broken, we masked our expressions, but the real question is how long until the mask wears off?

As she left the room, with her brown wavy hair swaying slightly, I truly felt the weight of the rings- it micaously measures to the same weight of my sinking heart. I clenched my hand around the rings and forced my eyes shut. I let out a frustrated, yet agonized, breath, to calm my nerves and pain that wanted to overcome me. I wanted nothing more than to sit in a lonesome corner and rock back and forth- to ease the pain before I truly wish myself to be gone from this cruel world.

When she had finally awoken from her unresponsive state I almost jumped with joy. But the joy did not last very long, and it seems in the century that I have lived in, joy is not something that lasts. It is something that happens at the spur of the moment, and in the blink of an eye it is gone.

Just like my heart.

It was once filled with emptiness, but then Bella had come along to claim my empty heart. I never knew of reason for me being alive, but she changed me in more ways that I had changed her. Sure she had been given immortality, but she gave me something that can never go away.

True love and reason.

Her heart meddled with mine and for some insane reason she ended up feeling the same to a soulless monster that should have rid long ago. Before I met her, and I was surrounded by my family, who all had mates. I had thought that there was no reason for me to be apart of the society that keeps me at bay. Her once chocolate eyes brought warmth through me and it is something that was still being kept within me till this day. Though it seems it was only a millisecond, until it was all ripped away from me.

There was a reason why this happened.

The reason being that life was not worth wasting such a soul that should have been disseminated long ago, five feet under. Life made me believe that I could actually have happiness, but it was just messing with my head. And I fell through the cracks- letting it suck me up and spit me back up.

The ring that my mother gave me shone even in the darkest hours. As I peaked through my eyelids I realized that no matter where I was there was a point and reason as to how I ended up where I am. All my decisions in the past lead up to this one moment- as if I am being tested for being worthy enough of occupying space on this overly crowded world.

But I am not going to be giving anyone the satisfaction of seeing me fail at life's test. I will have to find a way to make her remeber, even if it takes all eternity. As long as my eternity is spent with her by my side.
