A few hours later, Sophia blinked. The light shocked her a bit but she was happy that she could blink. Steve was asleep with his head near her right hand. Bucky was in the corner on the recliner, Sam was asleep on the couch and Tony was on her other side. "On your left," she croaked.

Steve woke with a start and smiled. "You really need to come up with your own material babe. Welcome back."

"Mine is always going to be me asking why I always end up in med bay after a mission."

"I don't know, baby. Being powerful does that. How do you feel?"

"Like I was shot love. How bad was it?"

"It didn't hit anything major, love. Just blood loss." His voice waivered.

"Steven what is it? What's wrong? Is anyone else hurt? Is Peter ok?"

"Everyone else is fine, love." He said as Tony Sam and Bucky stirred.

"Hey princess," Tony said. "I'm glad you're awake."

"Angel," Bucky said. "Nice to see you again."

"Med bay again Rosie. I'm seeing a trend," Sam quipped.

"Hey guys. You look like hell; how long was I out?"

"Only a day sweetheart. Umm guys can I have the room for a sec?" Steve's face was sad.

"Sure pal." Bucky grabbed Tony and Wilson and left the room. "Trust me Stark you don't want to be in there right now."

"Why? Do you know why Cap has that look on his face?"

"Yeah. I do. I'm telling you guys because I need you to be strong for her and get your emotions out here and not with her."

"Ok Barnes. Spit it out." Wilson said.

Bucky sighed. "Sophia was pregnant. The blood loss caused her to miscarry."

Tony's face was shocked as he heard her wail from her room. "Did she know?"

"We don't think so. Bruce said when she did the physical, she was in a certain timeframe where they didn't have to run the pregnancy test. I'm sure if she knew she wouldn't have come."

"Poor Steve. I don't wish that on anyone to give that news."

Steve poked his head out of the room. "She's asking for you guys."

Bucky Sam and Tony headed back into the to the room. Bucky reached her first and she reached out for Bucky. She hugged him and whispered. "I killed our baby." She started to sob again.

"No Angel don't think that. I got that bastard right after he shot you. I should have gotten him sooner. I'm sorry Angel."

Tony looked at Sophia. "I'm sorry. This is all my fault. I should have covered you better. I blew it."

Steve huffed as if he agreed.

Sophia looked sharply at him. "This was an accident, Steve. I shouldn't have been playing around before. I heard Bucky say there was a sniper, and I didn't take it seriously enough."

"Sophia please. If we had done our jobs right, you would have never been put in this position." Steve argued back.

Sophia's temper peaked. "Yeah, well if I hadn't lied about my period being a week late, I wouldn't have killed our child."
