For what it's worth, I'm sorry for the hurt
I'll be the first to say, "I made my own mistakes"
For what it's worth, I know it's just a word and words betray
But sometimes we lose our way
For what it's worth
-For What It's Worth by Liam Gallagher
Sophia got dressed and went out to the hall. She checked on Peter who was still asleep in his room. She then checked on Bucky, who was already up and out. She knew where to find him. She went down to the gym before she went to the kitchen. "James, can I talk to you?"
Bucky stopped hitting the heavy bag at Sophia's voice. He didn't turn around, still ashamed of the outburst. He started to hit the bag again, this new habit he picked up from Steve.
"James, please. I'm not mad or angry or upset. I'm just scared."
Scared is what triggered Bucky to turn around. "Scared Angel? Why would you be scared?"
"Because I think I'm losing my best friend. I think he hates me now."
"Really? He sounds like a jerk if he can hate an angel face like you, doll."
"Well, I hope he is not a jerk. I love him too much."
"You love me, doll?"
"I've always loved you, James. But you know it's not like that right?"
Bucky looked down. "I'm sorry if I made things worse with Steve. I love you so much Angel. You saved me and I think I just got too attached."
"I think I did too. But James, I wouldn't change it for the world. We are a family. A messed-up family but it's our family. You and me and Steve and Peter. We can even throw in Sam if you want."
Bucky laughed. "We can keep Wilson if you want."
"Ugh, please don't call him Wilson. Brings back memories."
"Do I want to know?"
"My ex." Bucky kept looking. Sophia rolled her eyes. "His name is Wade Wilson."
"That name sounds familiar."
"I'll explain later. Steve is making French toast. Let's go."
Sophia and Bucky went up to the kitchen. Peter was now seated at the counter talking with Steve. "Oh, yeah, James, don't defend Peter for the next 15 minutes," Sophia whispered.
"Why not?"
"You'll see and you will probably be on our side. But you are soft." Bucky gave her a glare. "When it comes to Peter I mean. And me, I guess."
"I trust you Angel. But if you try to kill him, I might step in."
"Deal."
Sophia approached the bar. "My boys! Good morning!" She said as she greeted Steve with a kiss and a kiss on the cheek to Peter.
"Oh! Hi Ma. Good morning. Uhm, how are you? Hi Uncle Bucky," Peter looked back down at his tablet.
Sophia grabbed his tablet out of his hands. "My darling, have you told your Pop about last night?"
Steve turned around and looked at his son. "Last night?"
"Oh love, did I forget to mention. When I walked back in last night, I found your son coming in 30 minutes past curfew. And by found, I mean trying to sneak back in. And while I have questions as to why the two of you or anyone else on the team failed to notice your son was missing, I'm wondering why Peter was so late in the first place." Sophia looked at the men in the room.
