"It wasn't a very funny joke boys," iroh poured his grandsons some tea as they giggled sitting with him holding their cups out sitting in irohs tent with Zuko as well to catch up.
"Thank you iroh," aito nodded softly.
Iroh looked at him softly, the blue eyes threw him off but how shy the boy was at first reminded him of Zuko as a child. Timid a bit but Ren was also shy but quickly becomes a talker and extroverted. They completed the other.
"So when we're you going to tell me you had sons?" Iroh raised a brow at his nephew who sat close.
"Eventually, you've been busy," Zuko shrugged sipping his tea.
"I'm never to busy for my grandsons," iroh smiled at the children who sipped their own tea and looked at each other.
"Twins are risky for births, is their mother still..." iroh asked quietly.
"Uh.. they were suppose to be triplets, their mother lived but I-I.. I was suppose to have a daughter too," Zuko pursed his lips a little and iroh inhaled deeply with a nod.
"Hatsumi, she was a still born," he nodded gently.
"We get to go visit her on our birthday though, we leave her a toy and flowers," Ren smiled. The boys were aware of their sister, they didn't understand what they lost since they had each other but she was family even if her spirit never met the human world.
"I get to pick out her flowers," aito told their grandfather.
"And I get to pick out her toy," Ren nodded proudly.
"I had the talk with them last year since they started asking a lot more questions," Zuko smiled gently.
"At least you still have two strong boys, I always knew you'd be an excellent father," iroh hummed proudly.
"You thought I enjoyed children's company?" Zuko asked flatly as he flicked a rock at aito when he tried stealing Ren's snack. Aito stuck out his tongue at his father and Zuko returned it.
"Yea, I always knew," iroh smiled watching him interact with the boys.

The twins got bored and went to explore the camp grounds as their father stayed with iroh to catch up on the years.
"Do you like iroh?" Aito asked his brother.
"He's nice, I don't know what we're suppose to call him..." Ren put his hands behind his head as the children walked in the dirt.
"It's weird with more people, I didn't know pops knew so many people," aito crossed his arms anxiously.
"Who knew old man had friends," Ren laughed.
"Do you think papa is going to stay with them?" The blue eye twin mumbled playing with his ear a little.
"That means we have to stay with them?" Ren raised a brow.
"Do you think they-" aito cut himself off but that made Ren stop.
"What?" His brother asked.
"Nothing... I just wonder if they knew..." aito couldn't say it.
"Our mom?" Ren finished and he nodded softly.
"I mean when they came to our house they asked who our mom was so I don't think so..." Ren remembered as he put his hands on his hips.
"Do you ever wonder why she doesn't want to see us?" Ren asked and aito inhaled a sharp breath.
"Because she's fighting in the war, when the wars over maybe she'll come back?" Aito offered but he felt sick thinking about the woman that birthed them.
