I remember this one day specifically.
It was a Thursday. I remember the classroom was full of students, chattering, barely anyone was listening to the teacher. It was in fifth grade, just around time where I started taking notice of my own appearance, but not to the extent I cared what others thought of me. Or so I thought.
I used to be overweight. Back then, I had always been on the shy side, and I never really wanted to stand out. I stuck to walls and stood as far away from the spotlight as possible.
But kids were kids. I remember this boy that I thought was my friend saying all these horrible and mean things about me really loudly, and his "friends" laughed at me too. The teacher just chuckled and said that they're idiots, and I remember feeling absolutely horrible. That was not the first nor the last time I felt that way.
I stand against bullying because I was a victim myself. I never spoke about it. I never wanted to talk about it because I was ashamed to talk about the things they said and I was scared to talk about how I felt.
I do not want any child, or anyone else, going through that. I don't want anyone to feel as horrible as I did, even years after.
Stand against bullying. Take a notice. Make a change.
