Hyunjin stood up with a smile as soon as he saw Minho and Izumi come in but it soon turned into a frown.
Izumi didn't even looked like she wanted to be there .
'could they not find the culprit? Do they believe I did it?'
Numerous thoughts like these clouded Hyunjin's head, creating a dull ache.
"Hyunjin, did you know Hwang Yeji, na Jaemin, Kim Hongjoong and Lee felix? " Izumi asked .
"They sound familiar..." Hyunjin thought about it for a while. "Oh! They were my classmates in elementary school! Seungmin also studied with us ."
"So, it's true." Izumi sighed.
"Wh-what is going on?" Hyunjin asked, his eyes darting between Minho and Izumi.
"They are the victims of the serial killings." Minho informed.
"F-felix too? He was so..nice to me in school." Hyunjin's voice lowered. "Does that mean..does that mean Seungmin is also in danger??"
"I guess." Izumi replied. "In that case your whole elementary classroom is in danger."
"Can you not give police protection to Seungmin?" Hyunjin was panicked.
"Hyunjin, Seungmin is now a suspect too and so is everyone who was in the same class. " Minho spoke. "We can't give police protection to like thirty people."
"Seungmin could never-"
"Hyunjin, you know someone framed you into the murders. I am not saying it's seungmin but it's someone from your class and you always said that they all were really good . " Izumi interrupted.
"Not all people are what they show themselves to you. I need you to tell us if anyone literally anyone from your class ever caused any trouble or had any issues. Anything."
"We can only trust you right now. I know it's a long ago..had been almost 10 years but please try to remember as much as you can." Minho said.
Hyunjin nodded, finally realising how grave the situation was. The fact that Six people had been killed already spoke the severity of the situation the city was in.
Hyunjin spent a lot of time trying to remember anything he could while Minho and Izumi waited, Minho would glance at Izumi in almost every five to ten minutes as she was sitting with her eyes closed. He had realised that it had taken a toll on her when she had called him, her voice was so distant .
Minho wanted the day to end as soon as possible so that the girl could go back home and rest. He couldn't help but worry about how she might get ill due to the heavy stress and ungodly working hours.
"Alright." Hyunjin said taking both of their attention. "So I remember a few things. "
"We had some weirdos in our class ..one of them is Han Jisung. He is the nice weirdo , the kind who keeps classes entertained.
The next is Lee jeno, the quiet kid. He was shy and nice ...I don't really know if he can do something so sinister but I have heard quite a lot stories about shy kids turning out bad." Hyunjin said.
"The third one, well ..it was Seungmin. He had anger issues as a kid but we worked on himself and stopped having outbursts. He was a good kid you know, he got so many proposals throughout school."
"Right, he once told me about this ." Izumi thought back to when Hyunjin was being taken away and seungmin had grabbed the collar of the police officer to fight.
"Who are the other two?" Minho asked.
"The fourth one is Kim Sehyeon. She was a very good singer..I think she became a trainee in yuehua later. There was not much weird about her except that she loved scaring people. I don't even know if it's weird.."
"Kim Sehyeon!? Everglow's Kim Sehyeon?" Minho asked.
"Oh? Did she debut? I don't know..I have been locked up here for so long." Hyunjin sighed sadly.
"Yeah she did! " Minho replied.
"Who's the last one then?" Izumi asked.
"Soodam." Hyunjin sighed. "She was just..very odd. I mean she was so good at everything but didn't have as such any friends though and I don't know but I was scared of her that she might scold me ." Hyunjin confessed.
"How is this weird hyunnie?" Izumi chuckled as Hyunjin shrugged with a pout.
"By the way , I think Soodam also debuted." Minho said . "I think in..secret number? That's the group I think."
"Whaaaaaat!?" Hyunjin was shocked .
"Alright Hyunjin, we will come back again to talk if we need help." Izumi and Minho got up.
"Izumi... Seungmin wouldn't." Hyunjin tugged at her sleeves.
"I won't let him go through what you are going through if he's innocent. Trust me." Izumi smiled .
Hyunjin nodded.
Once out of the prison Minho made Izumi sit in his car and told her to rest.
"But min we need to investigate."
"I don't want you to faint while we do that. So , sit here and eat this." Minho said pulling out a packet of kkeodori and handing it to her.
Izumi sighed, she knew she couldn't convince anyway and he was right about it too but she couldn't help but worry about the case more than ever .
She snapped out of her thoughts as Minho's phone rang.
"Oh.. alright. Thank you sir." Minho had said at last in the phone call.
"It was Chan, he told that we should finish the investigation for today soon and go back to rest since a lot happened. The ground level team found the murder weapon..we should go and check it out."
"What about the questioning?"
"Monday, he said." Minho took a deep breath. "Come to think of it , Chan must be so stressed. It's his engagement in two days and he is stuck with this case."
"Yeah.. it's Chan and that's why he can handle it. I would have simply passed away." Izumi laughed a bit for the first time since the morning.
"Are you okay?" Minho asked suddenly, taking Izumi by surprise.
"Uh-not really. I don't know..I think I am just really scared about seungmin being a possible suspect..it is scary that I might lose a friend while saving the other." Izumi admitted. "Even if he didn't do anything..he would hate me for suspecting him, right?"
"Listen here you insecure, overthinker piece of shit," Minho's tone was stern. "See, I don't really like that Seungmin a lot but he is smart. He wouldn't be mad because he understands that it's your fucking job and I don't know if he could do something like that or not but it's our job to suspect and investigate people doesn't matter even if they are our family. Understand?"
Izumi nodded, she definitely needed to hear this.
"Good ." Minho smiled reassuring her. "Let's give our all to it . "
"Yep" Izumi smiled.
"Now, if you don't mind I wanted to ask something while we go to see the murder weapon."
"What is it?"
"Should I wear boots or sneakers to the engagement?"
"Minho-" Izumi scoffed. "Is this really what you had to ask? In this situation?"
"Yeah, I mean life will throw shit but I should tackle it with style and fashion." Minho giggled.
"Sure, Minho surviving with style. Very much like you."
