Unexpected

Chapter 10

Once Hayes and I get home, we decide to stop by his old house so we can see Skylynn and Elizabeth. Skylynn is going to be so excited to hear that we are having twin girls! I can't wait to see her reaction!
*rings doorbell*
*skylynn comes to the door*
"Hi Maddie!"
Sky runs and hugs me hitting my baby bump a little hard.
"Uh," I wince
"Careful sky," says Hayes. "You don't want to hurt the babies."
"Babies?" Asks Skylynn. "I thought Maddie was just fat!"
I laughed and Hayes grimaced.
"Sky, that was mean. I can't believe that you would talk to Maddie like that! Go! Now!"
Skylynn starts balling and runs upstairs.
"A little harsh Hayes, don't you think?"
Hayes looks at me with tears in his eyes.
"I think it's best if we just leave for tonight," he says.
I didn't question it.
We got in the car and drove the whole way home silent.

It was about 7pm and Hayes went to Nash's house to watch the patriots game.
When I lived with Hayes for a bout 2 months,because my mom and dad went out of town for business, and I remember that Skylynn's bedtime wasn't until 9 so I decided to go back over to Elizabeth's to explain the news about the babies.

Hayes' POV
I am a little frustrated about what happened tonight. I knew that I was harsh on Skylynn but I want to be a great dad and I can't ruin my chance to be a dad if the babies won't even be born. I can't risk Skylynn jumping all over Maddie and the babies getting hurt.
"Hey dude," says Nash. "What's up with you?"
"Sorry. I'm just really concerned about Maddie. I should have stayed home with her."
"Why? She can probably handle herself."
"What if she goes into labor?"
"Seriously? Have you even paying attention at her doctors appointments or have you just been thinking about how guilty you are for getting her pregnant? Seriously. She's only 14. A teen and pregnant. And you also said with twins. Imagine how much pain you are putting her through. You should feel horrible about yourself."
I know that I am supposed to love Nash cause he is my brother but I just can't handle him right now.
"You know what Nash? I'm out of here. I'm going to go check on Maddie. Obviously she loves me a lot more than you do."
"I never said that I didn't love you."
"Well you said that I should feel horrible about what I done! I got her pregnant! I know that I feel horrible!"
I walked out of the room and slammed the door shut.

I got in the car and kept thinking about mine and Nash's argument. Does Maddie not want to have the babies? I keep thinking about how much pain she must be in. I can't live with myself. I have to apologize to her right away.

Maddie's POV
I get over to Elizabeth's house. I knock on the door and Skylynn's voice comes from the other side,
"Nobody is home!"
I open the door and see her holding her horse stuffed animal. Her face is all puffed up and red. You can tell that she had been crying.
"Hey Skylynn, I'm sorry about what happened earlier. I should have stayed. You know how I am going to have a baby?"
"Ya."
"Well Hayes and I went to the doctors today to see what the baby was."
"Is it a girl!?"
I laugh, "actually there is 2 girls. We are having twins!"
Skylynn gets so excited that she throws her horse (Frankie) up in the air. She starts jumping around and screaming "yay". I hear footsteps coming up the stairs from the basement.
"What's going o- Oh! Hi Maddie! A pleasant suprise! Have you found out what the gender is yet?" Says Elizabeth who is all sweaty and panting. She must have been exercising again.
"Hi Elizabeth! I actually came to tell you that we are having twin girls!"
"That's great sweetheart! I'm so happy for you guys!"
Elizabeth gives me a hug while being care not to hit the babies.
"Speaking of which, where is Hayes?"
Before I could answer her, Skylynn started talking.
"Hayes was being mean to me today so Maddie came back on her own."
Elizabeth looks at me.
"Actually, Hayes went over to Nash's house to watch the Patriot's game," I respond. "But yes. Today Hayes and I came over here to surprise you guys. Skylynn came up to hug me and hit the bump and Hayes got all mad. It's like he is the one who is pregnant," I laugh. "But before I could talk some sense into him, Skylynn started crying and ran upstairs and Hayes got in the car."
"I see," says Elizabeth. "Well, thank you for coming back. Would you like some tea? I just made some."
"Sure," I say as I walk into the kitchen.
Elizabeth and I sit down at the kitchen table and talk for about a good half an hour.

Hayes' POV
Maybe Maddie felt uncomfortable when... You know. She probably thought that we would never become parents and that she wouldn't get pregnant. Maybe I did it too early. Hopefully she doesn't think that I am a horrible person cause I know I do.

I walked into the house and yelled all over for her. I'm starting to get really worried. Hopefully she didn't leave. This is the biggest mistake of my life.

I walk into the kitchen an found a note on her dining room table.
~Hey babe. Went to see Skylynn. Be back in an hour. Ily~
I was relieved when I read the note. I text Maddie just to make sure that she is OK.
(M=Maddie H=Hayes)
H- Hey babe. You Ok?
M- Ya I'm fine. On my way home. U?
H- Ya. I'm already home. It's a long story. But I just want to apologize.
M- For what?
H- For getting you pregnant! I know that you are only 14! I shouldn't have been so clueless!
M- it wasn't all your fault! It was mine too! And I would never get angry at you for this.
H- good. Ily💕
M- ily too💕
H- let's snuggle when u get home
M- I'm fine with that😘

Maddie walks into the door about 10 minutes later.
"Ready to snuggle?" She asks.
"Yup," I smile.
She layed down on the couch snuggled up on my lap. She is the most beautiful thing that I have ever seen. She nuzzled her head into my chest and we both fell asleep on the couch. I am so glad that she isn't mad at me. I couldn't live without her. I love her.
