Chapter 35 - Domineering CEO Novels (2)

Chi Ying was stunned for a quick second and, her cheeks flushed, bounded away from him immediately. “I’m sorry.”

Chi Ying quickly paid for her tab and left without looking back.

Lu JingYan’s long, slender fingers touched the heat he could still feel on his right arm and the tip of his ears were burning.

His lips curved a little. “… that was quite spongy.

Chi Ying couldn’t hear what Lu JingYan had said but it did take her a while to realize that there was nothing wrong with the cash register…

The day that Chi Ying was to sign the contract with Gu YuanChen had arrived.

Chi Ying knocked gently on the door and said, “Director Gu.”

A clear and mellow voice came from inside the room. “C’mon in.”

Gu YuanChen was a fairly well-known director but he was also fairly young.

Gu YuanChen’s work studio was spacious, bright, clean, and neat. She had imagined an artist’s studio having a heavier feel to it, but this was nothing like that. In fact, it gave a cozy vibe to those who entered.

Gu YuanChen looked up and looked at her. “You made a mistake during your audition the other day.”

He saw it clearly how Chi Ying was buried in her own emotions that day. The vast greyness inside her eyes startled him and, at the same time, made him trusted that this girl had a more complicated past than most.

He gave her a second chance and hadn’t expected her to recover so quickly and was able to interpret the next three roles perfectly.

Gu YuanChen saw Chi Ying as a treasure. He even worked on altering parts of the script with the screenwriter and added about ten times more scenes for her role.

Chi Ying looked down a bit and said, “Yes, I did.”

Gu YuanChen gave a nonchalant “Mmm” and handed over to her both the script and the contract.

Chi Ying flipped through the information carefully.

The name of the film was “The Green Sun”. The story was based on the revolution time and told through normal peasants living deep in the mountains who’d move the story forward in their distinctively unique way.

The role that Chi Ying play was a mute.

For a mute who couldn’t talk, everything that she saw and felt would be expressed through her eyes.

As she continued to flip through the script, Chi Ying noticed that her scenes were much heavier than she had expected.

It wasn’t just the few shots that originally imagined, but her role was there throughout the entire length of the movie.

There were even a few scenes where she’d interact with the male and female leads.

Chi Ying was very focused while reading through the script.

Inside the quite atmosphere, the only sound that could be heard was the occasional noise from a page being flipped.

A few tender strands of her hair fell down next to her ears, further accentuating how white and pure her face was.

Looking at her, Gu YuanChen asked, “We will need to do some offsite shootings this coming March. Does that work for you? Can you block that out?”

Chi Ying nodded and said softly, “That is not a problem. Thank you for letting me have this opportunity.

“You can get more familiar with the script first,” said Gu YuanChen with a serious tone as he looked at her solemnly. “If you really want to thank me, I hope you will give this your best. There aren’t always a second chance in life.”
