Chapter 56 - Trip to the Zoo (1)
The little kiddo's apologetic look made her feel both happy and touched. Chi Ying couldn't help but reached out to unfurrow his brows and said, "It was the alarm that had woken me up. You don't need to apologize, ChengCheng. Plus, ChengCheng had learned to go to the bathroom by himself. That's wonderful and you deserve praises."
"Oh, thank you, Mommy." Chi Cheng smiled and his sparkly and cute baby teeth could be seen. But he could tell that Chi Ying still looked groggy. He asked her caringly, "Do you need to sleep some more, Mommy?"
Chi Ying blinked a little and her misty eyes cleared up and she could see clearer out of them. Her lips curved upward a little and she said, "No, it's alright. I've slept enough."
"Good." Chi Cheng smiled with his mouth closed. He shook Chi Ying's thumb and said in a milky voice. "Let's go, Mommy. Let's get ready."
"Alright." Chi Ying held Chi Cheng's little hand. It was soft and warm, like a little ball of flesh.
Then went to the bathroom hand in hand. The morning sun poured in through the window and the sink was clean and shiny.
Chi Cheng brushed his teeth seriously in front of the mirror. He was very focused. He brushed his teeth for a full three minutes, until his mouth was full of bubbles before he rinsed it out.
After that, Chi Ying started her detailed daily skincare process.
Chi Cheng, standing behind Chi Ying, lifted his head and watched Chi Ying applying cans and bottles of products onto her face with is black eyes.
Chi Cheng finally couldn't hold it in anymore. He tugged at Chi Ying's clothes at her waist level, popped out his head with his flickering eyes and asked cautiously, "Are you busy today, Mommy?"
Chi Ying was tickled by his little hand and chuckled. Her voice soft and sweet, she said, "No, I am not. Mommy is all yours today."
Chi Cheng couldn't be happier after he heard that. He reached out his arms generously and wrapped them around Chi Ying. He rubbed his soft cheek against her waist and said in a milky and happy voice, "And ChengCheng is Mommy's all day long as well. You stay here, Mommy. I will be right back."
Chi Cheng let out and ran off on his two short legs after he had said that. He opened up his closet door and he was still so small that most of his body was inside of the closet when he rummaged for something to wear.
Chi Cheng, carefully avoiding not to mess up any other clothes, finally pulled out two cotton coats, a small and a large one, both with the same cartoon brown bear on them.
He happily hugged the two thick coats in his arms and could barely see through them. Luckily, Chi Cheng was quite familiar with the navigation of the room so that did not hinder him from walking in front of Chi Ying. He said with anticipation, "I want to wear the same clothes with Mommy today."
Chi Ying was pleasantly surprised by him. She quickly washed her hands clean and took the coats from him. Her brows curved and she said, "How did you discover those?"
She had prepared those specifically for today during the period of time when she was rehearsing for her graduation play.
"I accidentally saw them," said Chi Cheng, a bit shy.
Chi Ying picked his hand up and said, "Okay, we will wear them today. This is called parent-child outfit. It's what a family would wear together."
Chi Cheng squinted his eyes and smiled. "Yes, we are a family!"
For the sake of spending a day with Chi Cheng without being disturbed and also so that she wouldn't regret about her own decision, Chi Ying decided to leave her cellphone at home. She put on her face mask and left the house with her large aperture portrait lens and SLR camera.
Chi Cheng was very active today and his cheeks blushed from excitement. He never stopped calling her the entire trip there.
He was cute, handsome, and well behaved. From the old grandmother who was selling balloons to the parents of other kids, everybody who ran into Chi Cheng would praise him.
