"Adrianah?"
"Yeah?"
"Can we talk?"
"Sure, Sandra."
"I know this maybe a bit of a touchy subject and thing to ask of you, but-"
"You want to ask me to change my name?" I asked in a tired but calm voice.
"It's for the best."
After giving it some thought, I agreed.
"Thanks. Choose whatever name and last name you want. Just not to similar to your other names."
"Sure."
"Let me know when you are done."
"Ok."
The door closed and I laid on my bed, thinking.
I don't know what name to chose!?
Wait.
I got out a book from my favorite book series. There's no harm in me being that character.
Leaving my room, I made my way downstairs and into the kitchen. Sitting down, I crossed my arms on the counter and said, "I chose my name."
"Very well."
"Jordan Kai Tempest-Carter."
"That is a very pretty but long name. Wouldn't you prefer a shorter name?"
"Sandra, you said any name," commented Kasey, coming up from behind, "any name is any name."
"Just because your name fills up half a pa- very well," said Sandra with a smile, "Jordan Kai Tempest-Carter it is. But I'm calling you just Jordan."
Getting back to cooking, Sandra muttered, "Isn't Jordan a boy's name?"
"C'mon," said Kasey, "Let's go outside. I want to get to know you a bit more."
When we were outside, Kasey said,
"Isn't Jordan Kai Tempest-Carter, the name of the teenage girl in The Rock Mission series?"
"Yep."
"I love that series!"
"Same!"
"Haha. Well, apart from having a long name, I guess we both have something in common."
"Yep. By the way, how long is your name?"
"I have five names and a double barreled last name."
"Go on."
"Kasey Mia Ashton Kennedy Drew Hall-Walker."
"Wow."
"Yeah. Surprisingly enough, I already had it memorized before I was 4."
"Cool. Do you have any siblings?"
"Yeah. I was one of five. One sister and three brothers. Dylan, Jesse, Carson and Skye."
"Who was your sister?"
"Guess."
"Dylan?"
"Wow! First time someone guessed right! People usually go for Skye and then Jesse or vice versa, if they think Jesse is short for Jessica. Then when I say no, they are like, no way can Carson or Dylan be your sister's name."
"Haha! Well it is so there."
"Exactly. What about you? Do you have siblings."
Immediately I changed from carefree to closed in.
"What's wrong?" asked Kasey.
I didn't reply.
"Ok, you don't have to tell me-"
"I do," came my sudden reply, "I have a younger sister."
"Where is she now?" Kasey asked, looking around.
"Colorado."
"What is she doing there?"
"Sandra will explain-"
"Wait, you escaped without, your sister?"
"She's been brainwashed. If I took her with me, the first time she got a chance she would report us to the police."
"And there you could have convinced them not to send you back."
"It's not that straightforward. Can we leave it now?"
"Sure. C'mon, lunch is ready."
