After getting out at the train station with Kit and Lukas, we made our way quickly to the nearest police station. There were a lot of people there, so we had to wait a bit. In that time, we all talked on many different subjects to make up for lost time. Finally, we were called to the desk amd explained the situation. The police officer directed us toward a lawyer, that would give Kit and Lukas a piece of paper with the order that the Sarkisian Family had to hand over Katia to them. However, before leaving the police station, I asked the police officer if someone reported a girl called Autumn Sarkisian missing. They said no. When my parents asked why I asked that question, I explained to them on our walk to the lawyer, that in Colorado, I was Autumn Sarkisian. And if the family didn't report me missing, then it goes to show they didn't really care about me at all. Then I remembered the incident in the hospital and how the woman only wanted to take Katia.
When we reached the lawyer, we were given the sheet of paper and, accompanied by him, we made our way toward the Sarkisian house. We agreed that I would go up first and demand the handing over of Katia. If they disagreed, then my parents and the lawyer would come up and show the order.
(Knock knock)
"I'm coming, I'm coming."
The door was opened by Mrs. Sarkisian, holding sleeping Katia in her arms.
"Autumn," she said, her tone patronizing, mocking and unplesant, "I see you finally remembered you have a family. But-"
"Hand over Katia," I demanded, "you know she's not your child. Though thinking about it, I wonder how many of the children here ARE actually your children?"
"Katia? What Katia? You must be mistaken. Or rather you must have gone crazy! You have such a vivid imagination Autumn," she said laughing, but suddenly her tone turned serious as she said "Get in the da** house right now. You are not leaving ever! You hear me."
"No."
Then the lawyer and my parents came up behind me. The lawyer produced the paper of order and repeated, "Hand over Katia, Mrs. Sarkisian."
"As I said, I don't have a daughter called Katia."
"What's her name, then?" asked the lawyer.
"Rosalinda", I replied, "She changed the name from Katia to Rosalinda, and Adrianah, my name, to Autumn."
"Well, Mrs. Sarkisian. The order still stands. Hand over Katia/Rosalinda to the rightful parents. You can either do this nicely or with embaressment."
At that time, Katia woke up. She looked blankly at me and with a bit of fear at our parents. Then she said about mom, "That woman looks familiar..."
"Rosa, Rosa, don't look at her," Mrs. Sarkisian started the lies, " she's the one who order your sister to kill you." At that Katia's eyes grew wide with fear.
"Autumn tried to kill me???" she half whispered, half chocked, whilst burying her face on Mrs. Sarkisian's shoulder.
"Yes, if I didn't stop it in time, you would have been dead."
"Now that's just lies!" I yelled, "and you know it!" I then tried to take Katia by force.
Katia screamed saying she's too young to die, I tried to calm her down saying I don't want to hurt her, and Mrs. Sarkisian yelled lies and offensive things at me. Once I had Katia in my arms, I took her to the swing, and sat her in the baby swing so she couldn't get out.
"Rosa, Rosa! Listen to me. Stop crying. Listen. For all these years I've been trying to tell you the truth. But they wouldn't let me. The people who you thought were family wouldn't let me. They filled your head with lies. Now you will know the truth. I am your biological sister. The family we were with now, is not related at all. They had no right to keep us. The couple you saw and said you recognized the woman, are your parents. They are your, our real parents. You are not called Rosalinda Sarkisian. You are Katia Athanasiadis. I am Adrianah Athanasiadis. I never wanted to hurt you in my life. What happened was, we ended up in the woods, lost. It was getting colder during the night. You became sick. I had no way of connecting with anyone and didn't know how to leave the forest. Your state became worse and worse by the day. You were close to dying. But then we were rescued. And you are alive. That's the story."
I took Katia into my arms and hugged her close. She cried, not from fear, but from happiness she was now told the truth and with her family.
