Chapter 7 - [August 27th]

On rare occasions, my friends would decide to make plans with their life. It was completely understandable. Only issue was that Rocky had to come to work with me if she wasn't with her father.

I spent the whole day saying; "sit down", "be quiet" and my person favorite- "don't make me beat you with my tape measure!"

My dear daughter knew how to frustrate the crap out of me. She acted just like her damn daddy. Everything was funny or a joke until I started taking things away- then she'd throw a tantrum.

Leaning back in my office chair, I kicked off my black patent pumps to rub my sore feet. The Tory Burch pointed toe D'Orsay pumps used to be one of my favorites. They haven't fit the same since I got pregnant. I refused to believe that my feet might have grown out of their petite cute size.

"Mommy!" Rocky yelled, standing on the physician beam scale in the corner of my office.

"My child, why are you yelling?"

"You sound like Granny," she laughed.

"I feel like your grandmother. You're sucking the youth out of me today." Rocky stepped off the scale with her hands on her waist. She marched over to my desk with an exaggerate swing in her hips. Why? I had no clue.

Her pointer finger rose to accompany her neck rolling request, "you need to relax your mind." Obviously, Rocky had been around Tay and Sparkle too much and picked up all of their habits and phrases.

"Rocky I love you but I literally cannot deal with you right now." I held down the intercom button on my phone to page Chelsea.

"Yes Mrs. Dawson?" Chelsea answered; sounding proper which only meant that Dr. Robinson was in the area.

"I'm sending Rocky to you. I'm on Mommy break."

"Can't. I'm leaving for class."

"No," I whined. "Ask Dr. Robinson to come to my office please."

"Do your own dirty work." She disconnected the line after her rude comment. One of these days I would have to fire her.

My office door opened a few seconds later. Chelsea stood with a mini backpack slung over her shoulder and a pissed off expression on her face.

"I thought you had to leave."

"I do. I had to say bye to my baby first." She kneeled to the ground opening her arms wide. Rocky ran to her arms with a huge smile. "Bye my lil'muffin puffin," she cooed in between kissing her cheeks. Rocky basked in the attention and affection like a puppy. Chelsea picked her up, holding her on her hip. "Elle, I bought Rocky a Minnie Mouse doll but I left it in my car-"

"Take her with you. Take her to class. Just make sure you feed her before you bring her back."

They both rolled their eyes at me before leaving my office.

I had a strong feeling that Aunt Flo would show up very soon. Every little thing aggravated my nerves and all I wanted was a steaming hot cup of coffee and two chocolate bars.

I focused back on the computer screen, filing in client profiles. It was a good thing Chelsea had already updated most of the files. My body and mind were exhausted. Between the first week of classes and taking care of my daughter, I felt completely stretched. This week made me wonder if I had what it took to do both. During undergrad, I worked at Dunkin' Donuts for spending/gas money but it wasn't like I was actually supporting myself- or supporting someone else.
