"Willy Tybur, pleasure to meet you," he does not offer his hand for you to shake, "pleasant journey?"

His small talk was creating an annoyance to you. Just from observing him you could tell he was power hungry; wanting fame and fortune. To be remembered. To go down in history.

"Pleasant enough." You lie through a smile. You are tired and hungry, all you want is a bed and a good meal. Talk to the warriors about the nations victory, instead you have to listen to a snob.

He sits behind his desk. Tybur gestures to a seat. One for Magath and you must stand. Someone of your position does not deserve a seat.

"Devil-"

"Y/N L/N." Tybur laughs at your wittiness.

"I know you're from the island," he places his hands in front of him, clasping them, "I'm making a speech at the festival and I wish for you to join."

"Do I really have an option?" You look to Magath, who looks at Tybur.

"No." They both say.

You cross your arms, "what would I be doing?"

"So inquisitive," he leans forward towards you, "all you need to do is stand there and look good." Tybur smiles wickedly, the corners of his mouth upturn crudely. So much so, it makes you shudder.

"Fine."

From Tyburs' wording you could deduce that you were going to be ridiculed at the festival. For what? Because you are from the devil island.

It is not fair, but that is life.

Walking through the Liberio gates no one is there to greet you. Not like the other soldiers, whom you are sure at least had one loved one standing with open arms.

"Y/N?" you turn and see a man with an eye patch and a missing leg. He uses a crutch to help him balance.

"Can I help you sir?" You politely ask noticing his situation. You feel pity for the soldier. Seeing a man like this hurts your heart, even though you know in war not everyone can be spared or come out unscathed.

"No-"

"I can escort you back to the hospital," looping your arm with his you begin to walk in the direction of the hospital building, "sir, before you called me by my name, do I know you from somewhere?"

"I overheard my Commander say it." He bluntly replies.

"Oh," you hesitate, "I have amnesia you see, I have no clue who I am. I was the on that arrived on the mission boat from Paradis Island."

"You're a devil?" He asks in disbelief. The soldier does not flinch. It makes you ponder; does he honestly not know you?

"Technically speaking yes, but now I'm an honorary Marleyan," there is an awkward pause, "sorry, I don't know why I told you that. I can leave-"

You start to move away from the soldier.

"Stay." Through his own actions, he brings you closer.

This touch. His touch.

The rest of the trip back is silent, enjoying each other's company.

Every so often, you will look at him for extended amounts of time, trying to remember if you know him. Nothing seems to fit.

At the entrance of the hospital there is a nurse standing beside a doctor, clearly worried about the soldier hobbling next to you.

"Thank you, from brining our patient back to us." The nurse wraps a blanket round his shoulders.

The doctor talks to you however, you are not paying attention. You only care about the mystery soldier.

You notice the nurse pushing him inside. Before he is ushered inside you whisper: "Captain Levi."

The name you had recently learned from your dreams.

You make eye contact with him yet your actions did not effect the soldier. Maybe it was the shock of the war or maybe he did not know the name.

Plodding away you wish you had asked his name. Possibly you could have visited him but then, maybe it was not meant to be.

Perhaps he was not important.

Fixated on the ceiling above your bed, you feel lonely: isolated. You want someone to hold you.

*knock, knock*

It is the wind knocking branches against the window.

*knock, knock*

"Y/N! WE HAVE A MEETING." You groggily escape your bed.

"WAKEY WAKEY Y/N!" It is Pieck and Galliard.

You open the door still clothes in yesterday's outfit.

"Did you even change or sleep?" Galliard scoffs, you go to turn back inside to change. Before you could Galliard grabs your collar and drags you out the door.

"There's no time for that!" Pieck dances around you.
