Chapter 5: On the run

I called for a taxi and got in to get away from Zack. Zack ran down the steps of the hotel and rushed out the door to catch up with me. He couldn’t find me since the taxi left before he could even realize that I took a taxi. Zack called for a taxi then got in to call me to ask me where I was.

“Where are you?” Zack yelled.

“Why do I need to tell you?” I snapped back.

“Because you know you shouldn’t run away from me,” Zack said.

“Look you don’t need to know where I am at” I shouted.

“Yes I do,” he said back.

“You ain’t my daddy so I don’t have to listen to you!” I said harshly.

“Excuse me miss, but where would you like to go?” the taxi driver asked politely.

“Umm anywhere is fine” “What do you recommend?” I asked.

“7th Boulevard has a nice restaurant” “Would you like me to take you there?” the taxi driver asked.

“Yes please,” I said politely back.

Zack listened to the whole conversation I was having with my taxi driver, and smiled devilish because he knows exactly where I’m going.

“Hello! Are you still there?” I shouted.

“Yeah I’m still here,” Zack said.

“Bye,” I said then clicked the off button on my phone.

“Makaylah? Makaylah?” he shouted then disconnected too.

The taxi started to slow down the stopped because traffic was ahead of us.

“Hey why are we stopping?” I asked the driver.

“Sorry miss but there’s traffic,” the driver apologized to me.

“Sorry but I have to stop,” the driver in Zack’s taxi told him.

“Why?” Zack asked.

“There is traffic and it’s going to be a while,” the taxi driver said still looking ahead.

I sat in the taxi looking left and right of me to see if Zack was there but he wasn’t.

“How far is 7th Boulevard from here?” I asked the driver impatiently.

“It’s not that far, just go up three blocks then turn right,” he smiled.

Zack asked his driver the same question I asked and got the same answer.

“Thank you,” we both said getting out of our taxi’s at the same time.

We both turned and looked at each other in shock for a moment, and then I ran across the street to get to the restaurant.

“Makaylah don’t run!” Zack yelled as he ran after me.

I ran three blocks and turned right on 7th Boulevard while Zack was still had one more block to go. I ran into the restaurant breathing really hard.

“May I use your bathroom?” I said out of breath.

“Yes you may it’s down the hall to your left” the waitress said with a smile.

“Thank you,” I said then ran into the bathroom.

Even though I didn’t have to go I had to make an excuse to get away from Zack. I checked each stall to make sure they were all empty. Zack finally made it to the restaurant out of breath just like me.
