Today was the first day of my Junior year at Mississippi State University. It was a Friday, and I never understood why the administrators decided to start school at the end of the week. Over the past two years here at MSU, I had created an excellent reputation for myself, and I was exceptionally well known around the campus. That was why I chose to stay at the College View on Campus Apartments. It was imperative that I maintained my squeaky clean image. I did not have a great roommate living situation last year. Both of my roommates in my suite were pill poppers, and they experimented with narcotics. I was almost put out of MSU, and I almost lost my basketball scholarship because quite naturally, people would automatically assume that the black boy was the one doing the drugs when in reality, it was them. After that close call with my previous roommates, I decided I needed to be by myself from now on. As I sat on my bed, I glanced at the clock, It was four in the morning, and I had an extremely long day ahead of me. I am a business administration student, so if that wasn't grueling enough, I also am a student-athlete. I had practice in an hour; then, I had classes, a flight to Ole Miss, and an exhibition basketball game at Ole Miss. Even though this game didn't count towards anything, I planned on showing out for shits and giggles.

I hopped out of bed, walked into the bathroom, and stared at myself. I smiled as I admired the work I put into my body, but yet and still, my self-esteem was low. I shook myself out of my negative thoughts, and I grabbed an expo marker from my bedroom and wrote a quote on the mirror. "To Fall In Love With Yourself Is The Secret To Happiness." I smiled as I sat the marker down on the counter. I then began my morning routine; I washed my face, brushed my teeth, got a shower, and fixed myself a quick breakfast. I fixed a smoothie packed with protein and carbs; this morning, I needed something to sustain me through the workout. I had an inclining Coach Howland was gonna work the fuck outta us this morning because we had an important game tonight. Since I didn't have a car yet, I decided to jog to the practice facility, it wasn't far from the apartments, and  I was about to be late to practice anyway. I grabbed my backpack and headed out to get my day started.
