I was in love

I was in love... there was no other way to explain it... Over the past couple of months, I had been through a lot. After going undrafted in the NBA Draft, I joined the Miami Heat for the NBA Summer League. I finally had my big break, then, just as I thought I had made it, my contact with the Miami Heat was waived and I joined the Sioux Falls Skyforce. I was transported from the sunny skies of Miami to the cold and gloomy skies of Sioux Falls, South Dakota. Nevertheless, I was still fortunate enough to be doing something I loved, to play basketball. Through everything, I still dream of him with me, I still yearned for his touch, I yearned to feel his pillowy soft lips against mine once again... But I didn't even know if he would feel the same, I didn't even know if he started to actually get serious with the dude from Ole Miss... There were so many factors at play, a lot could go good, and a lot could go bad... But still, my main goal was to make him mine... No matter the circumstances...

Even though I had been through a lot over the past couple of months, I was still thankful to my fellow teammates and for the memories, I had with him... My teammates and I were hungry, we are ready to be in the NBA and to make our mark, and by accident, I became one of the strongest leaders in the locker room. I was always pushing everyone to their limits, pushing everyone to always be the best and to always do better, just like I learned in Mississippi. I would never forget when I was standing next to him, and Coach Howland stood the entire basketball team in a line and individually told us what we needed to work on. I remember when I stood next to Iverson, and he told me "I needed to work on my shooting." Iverson and I were flabbergasted because I had only missed one shot the entire practice. That type of attitude, that type of work ethic stuck with me and the memories of Iverson have stuck with me as well.
