Chapter 11- Happy life

Maddie came over and gave me tips on my story. I started writing, she watched me. "Fix that." She'd say. "Edit that." She'd say. "Mention this." She'd say. I did as she said. I ended up finishing my work all in one day. "Good job. All you have to do is read over it, edit it and I'll do the rest." She explained. "What's the rest?" I asked. "Trust me. It'll be good. I just have to talk to your parents." She said. "They're downstairs." I replied. Maddie walked downstairs while I edited my work. I couldn't hear anything Maddie and my parents were talking about. I ignored it and continued to edit my work.

"Happy birthday to you, happy birthday to you, happy birthday to Valentina, happy birthday to you." My Mum sang. My Dad and Jude came in with a bunch of gifts. "Thank you." I smiled. I gave my Mum, Dad and brother a kiss. We all had breakfast, my Mum had made waffles. She winked at me. Isabella came running up to me. She had at the table. "Where did you come from?" I asked. "Mum dropped me off. Open all your gifts. Mine first!" She called. I opened her gift. "It's lovely. Thank you." I said. Isabella got me a necklace with her name and my name on it. Expense? "My turn!" Jude called. I opened up Jude's gift. He had regifted me his coloured pencils. "Oh thank you Jude. You can keep them if you like." I smiled. He giggled. "Thank you!" He said. "Alright open up, Dad's. Mine's special it needs to be special." My Mum said. I looked at Dad. He gave me a card, with four gift cards inside. "Thanks Dad!" I said jumping up and hugging him. "Last but not least." I said turning around.

"We're going to be late for school. V let's check out your gift after school." Isabella called. My Mum nodded and winked at me. My Dad took Isabella and I to school. All day I was wondering what Mum's gift was. "Happy birthday Val!" Jae called. "Thanks Jae." I smiled. "I got us friendship bracelets. Here's your one Bella." Jae smiled. I hugged him and thanked him. "Ugh. Math." Isabella groaned. In class, we worked quietly until I was called to the office. "Am I in trouble?" I asked. "No, of course not. Your Mum is picking you up She just called." Miss Chand said. "Oh thank god." I said aloud. "Oh! Happy birthday by the way." She smiled. I got in the car with my Mum. "Put this on." Mum said. I put on a blindfold. My Mum lead me to a beach. The one where Nana is. She took off my blindfold and everyone was there. "Surprise!!" Everyone yelled. "Wow!" I smiled. I cried a little since I could tell my Mum brought me here, to think of Nana as she always gave me the best gifts on my birthday. Love. Everyone was there. Mum, Dad, Jude, Isabella, Jae, all my cousins, uncles and aunties, and of course Nana, in my heart.

I ended up having a great birthday with everyone. Everyday after school I go to the beach and talk to Nana by throwing stones in the water. I leave flowers there as well, they sit on the sand as the waves take them into the water. I received an A+ on my narrative that I worked on with Maddie, not only that but my narrative was published with at least 14 thousand views so far. Although Nana was gone, she was free. She is always with me. I can feel her in my heart.
