Chapter 7
Haven's P.O.V.
After my mom informed me that Drake and I are related, I was completely out of energy. I head upstairs into my room, where I see Drake standing by my window.
"What are you doing here, Drake? Did Dad send you?" I ask, cynically.
"No, he didn't. I came on my own."
"Why?" I ask, getting pissed off.
"It wasn't your kid," he tells me then jumps out of my window.
"What? Drake!" I call after him but he's already gone.
I close my window and change into a pair of sweats. I climb into bed then soon fall asleep and my dream begins.
"Great, who's here this time?" I ask myself.
"I am, Ms. Mathews."
"Orin? Trying to take me back to my dad again?"
"No. Your brother is going to take Tanner, tomorrow. I need you to keep him safe, please," he pleads.
"Why should I help you?"
"Because, you care. Most of us fallen, have no hearts but, it seems that those in your presence. They get their humanity back. You're the only one that can talk some sense into, Drake. And, in return I will help you."
"How so?"
"I will keep, Milo away from you, for as long as I can," he tells me.
"I'll try my best, Orin. But I can't make any promises, I can't keep everyone safe."
"Thank you, Ms. Mathews, I am truly grateful," he thanks me and then leaves me, standing alone in the forest.
Then I hear a second pair of footsteps, and turn in the direction of them. It's Drake.
"Been standing there the whole time?"
"No," he lies.
"I know you're lying, Drake, and I won't let you take him."
"Drop the act, Haven."
"What act?" I ask.
"Oh my mistake, I guess it's just you being yourself."
"What are you talking about?"
"You. You're acting like you're all high and mighty, like you're better than everyone else."
"I don't act like that!" I yell even though, he is somewhat right.
"Haven, I'm your brother. I probably know you better than anyone else does."
"I'm done talking to you," I tell him while walking away.
"Haven!" he calls after me.
I turn around, "What?!"
"The kid was mine. It just goes to show, that maybe you do belong on my side."
"No, I won't let it happen. I will find a way to stop this, and you, and Dad."
"I wish you luck then, you're going to need it," he tells me, then leaves, leaving me alone...again.
Standing here by myself, I start to think. Is Drake right, about me? Do I really act like I'm better than everyone else? I don't feel like I do, but then again how am I supposed to know how others, think of how I act. Maybe Drake is right, about the way I act at least. But that is it, nothing else. Soon, I wake up laying in a bed that isn't my own.
